Nepal Telecom (NTC) has officially released a statement after users complained of receiving politics-related messages. The company has also released its statement via its social media handle on the very issue.

The company admitted that VAS (Value Added Service) providers are using the service to convey political messages. It also asserted that the service is purposely to be used for promoting businesses. The company said that many Ntc users are receiving politically motivated messages.

To put this into perspective, several Ntc users have posted on social media that they received messages that are politically motivated. There is a concern about how the SMS senders obtained their contact numbers. Ntc has stressed in its notice that it has and doesn’t provide user contacts to any individual or organization.
