Collaboration in Two Key Areas

Thailand is aiming to become the ASEAN digital hub. To achieve this, the country is closely working with the Chinese tech giant, Huawei in two key areas.

First, Huawei has worked with customers to accelerate Thailand’s digital transformation and ICT infrastructure innovation. This is consistent with Thailand’s 4.0 strategy.

Thailand, with the adoption of 5G, Cloud, and AI has already unleashed its potential across industries. So far these ICT applications have aided Thailand in transport, healthcare, smart city, and bolstered its socioeconomic development and ecosystem.

Among these, smart ports and airports are the areas where Huawei and Thailand can work together. Mr. Ren unveiled the company’s best practices in Smart Port and Smart Airport in China. The ports build automation capabilities based on all factors – people, vehicles, goods, enterprises, and places —to help build safe, efficient, and intelligent world-class ports and airports.

Second, Gen Prayut and Mr. Ren also highlighted a commitment to cultivating upskilled and digital talent in Thailand. In order to drive Thailand’s digital transformation and long-term development, both men stressed that the public and private sectors must work together to build an open, shared ICT talent ecosystem that benefits all.

The institute has already trained over 41,000 ICT professionals and provided training to 1,300 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Besides, Huawei has also signed MoUs with above 20 Thai universities. Huawei is ensuring that no one is left behind in the rapidly growing digital world. Its policy of digital inclusion enhances digital knowledge and furthers the employment prospects of vulnerable groups.

The Chinese tech great has not only been a commercial tech juggernaut but has been contributing to academies too.
