NTA is conducting a survey on the quality of fixed broadband internet service all over the country with a Consulting service. The QoS survey will help attain the customers’ perception of the services and the service providers across all provinces.
Releasing a notice today, the Telecom authority invited eligible companies/firms for an Expression of Interest to carry out the survey.
This survey will be holistic and span across the country, in all 7 provinces, with 3 different packages.
NTA’s Internet survey will access, measure, and analyze the Quality of Service of fixed broadband internet services across the country.
The consultant shall submit its EoI within 15 days or by January 9 at 12:00 AM. NTA says this survey could also include the broadband projects running on RTDF.

Objectives of NTA’s Internet Survey
NTA’s internet survey will assess the state of fixed broadband internet services provided by different ISPs in different districts. Likewise, the assessment will help “identify the quality issues of the internet service and possible recommendation after the actual measurement.
Further, the gathered data will help “increase the quality of service standard and it also aims to get different recommendations for different districts”. Similarly, a consumer satisfaction survey will provide the current status of services of the operators and identify the perception of the consumers.”
The survey will study various KPIs of the internet service in its report. This includes speed, max speed, latency, jitter of both download and upload. Similarly, it will gather data on Average latency and jitter, and browsing delay.
Meanwhile, the survey will be carried out with varying parameters among the provinces. NTA also has developed a set of questionnaires that will reflect the service a customer is receiving from its ISP.

The Survey to Ensure Quality Service
Internet is an indispensable part of our life today. And the paying customers deserve the service that they are paying for. Furthermore, the Nepali internet speed war is spiraling beyond control. The ISPs are introducing 3 digital to a possible 1 Gbps packs but the question over service remains a doubt. In it, such a survey could serve as an essential tool to assess and ensure quality service for the consumers.
