Nepal Telecom (NTC) has surpassed the 1 crore users mark on its 4G network. The operator revealed the milestone data based on its Chaitra, 2078 report.

The company says its 4G users have now reached 1 crore, 4 lakh, 21 thousand, and 976. In the meantime, the 3G customer base has also risen to 94 lakh, 82 thousand, and 580.

Till Falgun of 2078, the total 4G customers stood at 98 lakh, 93 thousand, and 874. On the other hand, 99 lakh, 43 thousand, and 729 users were recorded on the 3G network.

With this total, Ntc has also increased the overall subscribers on mobile services. As per the latest data, the company has 2 crore, 20 lakh, 91 thousand, and 785 subscribers.

The government-backed telco Nta launched the fourth-generation mobile service on 2073 Poush 17. The company had started this revolutionary high-speed mobile broadband service from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Since 2076 Ashoj 15, it has continuously upgraded and expanded the network around Nepal.

Activation and supported bands for Ntc 4G

To get the 4G service on your smartphone, you need to have both smartphone and SIM cards that support the 4G network. You can dial *444# and follow instructions to confirm whether your SIM card supports 4G or not. You can also upgrade your current SIM and activate 4G or learn if you need to visit the office for a replacement via the same dial code. NTC operates its 4G network in 1800 MHz and 800 MHz bands. To get the maximum efficiency, you need a phone that supports both these bands. You can check the specifications while buying a new phone to confirm this. Besides, you can keep your phone on 4G/LTE mode to continuously receive the high-speed 4G internet on the go. VoLTE for HD voice

Besides the 4G network, Ntc has also launched VoLTE for voice. Voice over LTE or VoLTE is a service available on 4G that brings HD voice service. Another advantage is that with a VoLTE call, you can enjoy both voice and data service simultaneously while on a call. This is not possible on a regular 4G service as it is an exclusive broadband network.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
