Redmi 10A Review

Redmi 10A is the latest budget offering from Xiaomi in the Nepalese market. Powered by an Helio G25 chipset, the phone comes with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD display. In this Redmi 10A review article, let’s get into the usage, performance, camera, and battery life of the phone.

How are the Design and Display?

As a budget-centric device, I found the design of the phone to be pretty basic. The phone feels a bit bulky if you are coming from a lightweight phone. But after some days of usage, it feels fine. There is a physical fingerprint scanner behind the camera module. It feels okay enough if not very fast, given that it’s a budget phone.

Redmi 10A Display

Coming to the display, the phone houses a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display. The resolution here is HD+ and it looks okay for the price. You can’t view 4K contents on Youtube and the video quality can be maxed at 1080p. Being an IPS panel, the viewing angles get no major complaints. The sunlight readability is also okay. Watching movies, and Youtube videos feel good for the price.

What about the Performance and Usage?

The phone has an Helio G25 chipset from Mediatek under the hood. The 12nm-based chipset is pretty basic and offers you an entry-level experience. It has the configuration of Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53). And the graphics are handled by PowerVR GE8320 GPU. As I expected, the performance is basic and one shouldn’t expect a superfluid experience from this chip.

Also, MIUI 12.5 feels a bit sluggish and there are hiccups now and then while running the device. There is a need for optimization on this phone. Maybe an update can fix this. Apart from that, you can play low-demanding and casual games on this phone. One shouldn’t expect to play PUBG, or CODM to run smoothly on this device. Due to the silicon, the performance will be good for casual games only. The multimedia experience is quite good here. Also, the mono speaker on the bottom is loud enough for movies and videos.

Redmi 10A Camera Review

The phone sports a dual camera setup on its rear side. The primary sensor is a 13MP shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. And another one is a 2MP depth sensor. In daylight, the main camera can click good photos. For the price, the 13MP lens outputs images with a nice amount of details and colors. While it cannot be compared to a higher-level camera, it performs well for the budget. You can also click portrait pictures with AI. The edge detection may not be clean but having this mode on a budget phone is a nice add-on.

On the front side, there is a 5MP selfie snapper. Pictures look okay with ample lighting conditions whereas in low lighting scenarios, the pic quality might not be appeasing. Having said that, it does its job for video calls on Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, etc.

For videos, Redmi 10A can do up to 1080p 30fps videos. I found the video quality to be fine in broad daylight conditions. There is no EIS stabilization as expected from a budget device.

Battery Life

The phone is fueled by a 5000mAh battery. On top of that, the company has provided a 10W charger inside the box. To charge the phone from 0-100% takes 2 hours and 50 minutes approximately. And talking about the battery life, this mammoth battery can go on for 3 days on lite usage. Even on heavy usage, the cell can go on for a day and a half. So, you are quite sorted in terms of battery life.

Final Verdict

Redmi 10A is a budget offering that is designed for those wanting a great battery life and a smartphone experience. As the chip is an entry-level one, the performance also quite resembles that. There are a few hiccups on MIUI which need to be fixed via an update. Other than that, it is a good phone on the budget for social media, casual gaming, and usage.

Talking about the cameras, they can sort out basic photography needs in ample lighting conditions. Pictures look decent in daylight while in low, the quality diminishes. After all, it’s a budget device and camera quality is very good for the price. Battery life is very solid although fast charging support could have added much more value. The 10W charger takes around 2 hours and 50 minutes to fully charge the phone. With a full charge, the phone can go along 2 days easily on moderate usage.

The phone becomes a good choice for lite users who are not concerned about gaming or excessive usage. If you are seeking a more powerful device, you can add some bucks and go for the Redmi 10 with Snapdragon 680 chip. Or if the phone is for casual users, its battery life stays as the USP.
