Owners of the newly-launched flagship lineups Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus have complained that they are getting a blur issue on images snapped through the main camera. Although the current-generation premium phones come with credible photography enhancements, it seems users are having a reason to raise a concern.

Samsung launched its Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus back on February 17 bringing some noticeable upgrades over the preceding Galaxy S22 series. On the camera front, there are software-driven camera improvements for S23 owners but an annoying blur issue has surfaced on some devices. Both handsets come with a 50 MP main camera in a triple-camera setup.

Users have called them “blurry bananas” for the shape the blurred part create

Galaxy S23 and S23+ users on Reddit, Samsung’s EU Community, and other forums have shared photos that are out of focus and blurry. Users have called them “blurry bananas” due to the shape the images form. Worse, the issue is not just occurring in photos of objects. Check out the images below.

It’s possible that the issue lies in Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus camera lenses with wide and ultrawide cameras being suspectable for such annoyances. But if that were the reason, corners of the images would incur those blurs.

So far, Samsung has not made any statement on the issue. Users though have resorted to customer support for a fix. In the meantime, SamMobile suggests that users can rid of the annoying blur on images by tapping on the screen to focus before capturing the images. This could be nagging as it’s not a desirable solution or permanent. To make it worse, there is no indication that a future software update would remedy it.

So, the permanent solution could unfortunately be swapping the device or having the lenses replaced. The problem has not occurred to all but a limited number of users so the assembly procession might have done a thing or two to cause it.

Fortunately, though, users of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra have not complained about the same blurry image issue on images shot through its convention-breaking 200 MP camera.
