Xiaomi smartphone shipment declined by a year-to-year 15.8% in the second quarter (Q2) of 2023 which ended on June 30, 2023. The company also saw its total revenue hit as global smartphone markets struggled to revive.

According to the report, Xiaomi shipped 32.9 million units of smartphones compared to 39.1 million in FY 2022 for the same period.

The low numbers in smartphone shipments also contributed to its revenue decline. The tech giant’s total revenue fell by 4%. In the second quarter of 2023, Xiaomi posted $5 billion (CNY 36.5 billion) in revenue in Q2, 2023 while during the same period in FY 2022, the company brought in $5.78 billion (CNY 42.2 billion). Similarly, the company earned $658 in profit increasing by $165 million from $493 in Q2, 2022.

Xiaomi smartphones are hugely popular in Nepal for their combination of price and specs. Recently, the company launched its latest Redmi Note 12 5G device in Nepal.

Xiaomi smartphones became slightly more expensive

During the same period, the average selling cost of a Xiaomi smartphone slightly increased. Attributable to the higher ASP (average selling price) in China, a Xiaomi smartphone cost rose from $148.80 (CNY 1,081.70) to $154.37 (CNY 1,112.20).

But despite low financial gains and smartphone performance, the device remains firmly in place as a prominent phone maker. In the global ranking, the device stands 3rd as a smartphone OEM and 2nd in two key regions- Europe and the Middle East. As the report highlights, Xiaomi smartphone shipments ranked in the Top 3 in 51 markets and in the Top 5 in 10 other countries.

The company has other good reasons to cheer about. Its monthly active users reached 606 million marking a 10.8% yearly increase. Back in May, Xiaomi celebrated reaching over 600 million users in its MIUI Android skin.
