Apple’s latest generation iPhone 15 Pro is coming with noticeably faster 5G speeds than the previous models had on offer. It has been reported that the device’s 5G modem enables the model to deliver 24% faster 5G internet speeds than its older sibling.
Apple first brought 5G to its iPhones with the iPhone 12 series in 2020. Ever since then, the US phone maker has been steadily improving its devices’ broadband performance.
This exciting new report comes from SpeedSmart.net which based its report on the device’s internet performance on US carriers. The internet speed-testing platform tested the 5G speeds of the iPhone 15 Pro and its senior variant iPhone 15 Pro Max on US mobile networks AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The report revealed that the iPhone 15 Pro came atop across all three carriers with significantly faster download speeds.
Among the networks, the iPhone 15 Pro performed its strongest on Verizon on which the device averaged 243.06 Mbps against its previous-generation model iPhone 14 Pro which averaged 195.82 Mbps download speed. This marked a 24% faster download speed (47.64 Mbps higher) for the latest flagship “Pro” model.
Likewise, on T-Mobile, iPhone 15 Pro saw an improvement of 22% faster 5G download speed with 300.92 Mbps being the average speed. On AT&T, the same model clocked 14.6% faster with 204.34 Mbps average.
Across all three networks, the iPhone 15 Pro device witnessed only a slight difference in upload speeds.

Thanks to this Qualcomm modem
The improved 5G performance on the iPhone 15 Pro is attributable to an upgraded modem the device uses. Apple has not revealed which modem it is using on both the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max variants. However, SpeedSmart suggests that both these Pro lineups are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G modem.
Launched in early 2022, the X70 modem is the world’s first 5G AI processor in a 5G Modem-RF system. It enables higher performance, lower power consumption, and better carrier aggregation (CA) capacities. Users can also expect better signal connectivity even when they go a distance from a cell tower. So, if you are buying an iPhone 15 Pro or a Pro Max, you will be assured of these features.
Apple is also rumored to be keen on using its own 5G modems, however, the company has extended its cooperation with Qualcomm till 2026. So, we are still a few iPhone generations away before the Cupertino giant starts using its own 5G modems for its devices.

iPhone 15 Pro Max shipment to witness global delay due to high demand
Apple’s new-generation iPhone 15 smartphones are up for pre-order in many countries already and the company will start shipping its iPhones from September 22. The devices come with improved graphics and features including 3nm chipsets, titanium frame, and USB Type-C ports.
But while the nay-sayers have resumed their remarks upon the lack of innovation on iPhones since Steve Jobs, the majority are tempted by the new lineups. But this has also led to a not-so-likable development. That is, due to the strong demands, the iPhone 15 series pre-order shipment will likely be facing delays globally, particularly for the iPhone 15 Pro Max variant.
Reportedly, the delay goes as far as mid-November, according to Apple.

Delays by up to 8 weeks in some markets
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman recently reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max delivery times will face delays by weeks. As per reports, the users will have to wait for 8 more weeks in India, up to 7 weeks in China and Canada, and between 7 to 8 weeks in the UK to lay their hands on the new superlative Apple handset.
The delay is applicable to both home deliveries and in-store pickups. And worse, the delay is not just applicable to the Pro variants. The non-pro models could also face up to 2 weeks of delay in some markets.
Apple manufactures its Pro variants at factories in China while it’s producing the standard variants in India and Vietnam. So, Apple’s production capacity is rather limited which might complicate its shipments during the initial weeks after the launch of the new iPhone models. Since India is facing delays, it’s also likely that Nepali iPhone 15 buyers will also have to wait a bit longer. However, we hope the longer wait for the premium devices won’t go in vain and the hefty price tag is well justified.
