Nothing Phone 2a retains the iconic signature feature- the Glyph Interface but rather a toned-down version of what we are accustomed to in other Nothing smartphones. The three strips shine just around the cameras on the back. These are composed of LED lights that turn on for calls, charging, notifications, and other activities on the phone. Although we notice only three of such lights, they look superb on this fresh model, especially around the futuristic-looking cameras.
Likewise, the phone comes with an IP54 rating for water and dust protection. Being an upper-mid-range phone, it missed the IP68 rating that the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G had. Anyway, the device measures 161.7 x 76.3 x 8.6 mm in body and weighs 190 grams, lighter than the Nothing Phone 2.
The display has some strikingly satisfying attributes. The Nothing Phone 2a comes with a 6.7-inch display with an 87.6% screen-to-body ratio and 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution. The glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Further talking about the display, it possesses a decent 120 Hz refresh rate, an LTPO OLED. The Nothing Phone 2a is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset. It’s a 4nm system on a chip (SoC) with octa-core processors. For e.g., it features 2 performance cores at 2.8 GHz speed and the other 6 efficiency cores clocking at 2.0 GHz speed. The chipset is paired with a Mali-G610 MC4 for graphics assignments. The device sports a dual-camera setup on the back with the main shooter being a 50 MP sensor and the other also an ultrawide 50 MP camera. The camera should handle all the photoshoot conditions with ease although we won’t compare it to the optical prowess of the heavyweights like the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Nothing Phone 2a carries the trend of manufacturers offering a more affordable variant from their flagship lineup just like the OnePlus 12R being a good example.
