Now, sellers will require permission from Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to sell foreign SIM cards and recharge cards in Nepal. The authority made a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) mandatory for sellers of SIM and recharge cards of foreign service providers.

The authority conveyed its decision via a notice. This indirectly affects the people of Nepal and abroad who would visit abroad and use foreign SIM cards. In its notice, NTA requested all the stakeholders to obtain an NOC to sell foreign SIM and recharge cards in Nepal. So, individuals or companies who sell SIMs and recharge cards of foreign telecom companies must get permission from NTA.

So, if you are planning on visiting any country soon and want to buy that country’s SIM or recharge card, the notice will concern you. If you are buying that country’s SIM or recharge card, then your provider must first have an NOC from NTA.
