Monsoon Response Command Post (MRCP) has requested Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to resolve any telecom service disruption that occurs during the monsoon season. In a meeting held on July 20, 2025, the MRCP urged Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to address any network outages that occur due to natural disasters during the rainy season.

The command post meeting took place at Singhadurbar. The meeting discussed possible telecom service and electricity disruptions during the monsoon. It’s currently the monsoon season in Nepal, and various places witness heavy rainfall. As a result, telecom networks can face service disruption due to power outages or damage to the telco infrastructure.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) spokesperson and Deputy Secretary Suresh Sunar shared that “The meeting requested the NEA and NTA to make necessary arrangements for appropriate and prompt resolution of complaints of disruption of power supply and communication systems due to floods, landslides, inundation, and heavy rains during the monsoon period.”

Command Post requests NTA and NEA to ensure telecom services work this monsoon with continuous power supply

The Command Post requested that NEA (Nepal Electricity Authority) to ensure power supply to NTC and Ncell towers during the monsoon period. During the monsoon season, telecom towers go offline due to power cuts and disasters, causing network outages.

But communication services become even more important during these times for relaying information and for rescue operations. So, unless there’s catastrophic damage to the infrastructure, mobile towers can stay operational with a consistent power supply.

Monsoon poses one of the significant challenges to the lives and properties in Nepal. During these weather conditions, communication services play an important role in connectivity. It can potentially save lives and property. Therefore, Monsoon Response Command Post’s coordination comes timely and relevant.
