The ‘Prabhu Pay CAN Infotech 2020’ has started from Falgun 2 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The biggest tech event is organized with the major aim of promoting startup businesses in the country. The fair is being held at Bhakutimandap in Kathmandu from Falgun 2 to 7(14 February- 19 February).
The exhibition is featuring information, technology, and entertainment-related stalls. The president of the CAN Federation Navaraj Kunwar speaking at the inauguration ceremony, said that CAN Federation is always ready to cooperate with the government for the betterment of the sector.
This year’s fair is sponsored by Prabhu Pay Mobile Wallet as a major sponsor. Similarly, WorldLink Communication is Associate Sponsor and Prabhu Insurance is an Official Insurance partner.
Like every other year, this year’s CAN Infotech also offers you a lot of exciting events. There are altogether 174 stalls which highlight an exposure of innovation. Under this, individuals or organizations related to startups and innovations are showcasing their new products and ideas. The CAN Federation had issued a public notice for this, calling on startups and organizations involved in the innovation. Furthermore, there has also been an announcement that participants will be rewarded with the opportunity for National ICT Day at CAN Infotech.
There are multiple sections for different purposes. Robots and research related to robots will be available in Robotic zone, Games in the gaming zone. You will get an opportunity to meet and discuss your field of interest in particular zones at the event. With the major motive to promote new and innovative ideas in the field of technology, the CAN has given Innovation Exposures a special priority. It also aims to develop the capacity of information technology and engineering students, provide them with a platform for ideas, help convert innovative ideas into the business, and contribute to practical education.
This time CAN is also hosting startup ideas and project competitions. They are giving space for junior innovators as well and competitions such as Robowars, Aquabot, Pushbots, Drone Dancing, and Robot Race are being organized in which the winners of each competition will receive attractive prizes. A special pavilion is allocated for this.
The E-Waste Management section is also another major attraction. This stall is there to guide you on waste management which is one of the major issues these days. A lot of stalls are offering gift hampers and lottery on visiting their stalls. The organizer expects more than 400,000 visitors to attend the event this year upon the footstep of around 376,000 last year.
The entry fee for this year’s CAN Infotech is Rs. 100 in which students will get a 50 percent discount while students of community and government schools/colleges, media personals, senior citizens, persons with different capabilities will get free entry.

To sum up the CAN infotech 2020 event, here are the major highlights of the show.

This time, the federation is organizing district level exhibitions in Itahari of the province 1, Birgunj of the province 2 and Chitwan of the province 3. Furthermore, Pokhara of Gandaki Province, Butwal of the province 5, Surkhet of Karnali Province and in Dhangadhi of the far west and Nepalgunj of the province 6 are the places where the CAN Infotech is taking place.
These days CAN Infotech has become more of a market place than the innovation showcase. A lot of people visit the fair to see the new technological trends and new devices. It has been clearly seen that the CAN federation is not giving much focus on bringing the latest technologies rather than keeping a lot of stalls to clear their stocks. We request CAN focus more on innovation than making the fair more of like a market (Haat bazar).
