Many Nepalese are watching the Nepal Premier League (NPL T20 cricket competition) 2025 online on the Dish Home Go app over mobile data or WiFi. It costs data as it requires an internet connection to stream the matches. And while many on WiFi may take it for granted, those on data may be curious about their volume use. Therefore, here, I am going to tell you how much data an NPL T20 cricket match uses. Keep reading.
Before I start, I need to say something about Dish Home’s streaming for NPL 2025.

Dish Home Go app felt great for my NPL streaming experience
We all know that NPL 2025 is streaming online on the Dish Home Go app. And I must say that I liked it. The app’s interface is minimalistic, offers video quality options, and also has a picture-in-picture (PIP) mode. The only thing I think it could have done was adding an FHD 1080p resolution, but HD (720p) also fares well. It did fine on mine, too. Another benefit is that watching the action without any ads is a premium experience and feels exclusive on the app. Gotta feel good about it after spending Rs 300 on the subscription.

On the flipside, sometimes, errors stopped the streaming, and I wished that it had started right from there. That’s because, to resume, I had to go to the first page and tap on Watch Now. But I must say that, unlike other users, I had no problem with the app to stream the match. Others have complained that the streaming didn’t work and they had to contact the company. My experience was butter smooth. Now, to the main part.
There are other ways to watch NPL online and on TV too.
NPL streaming on data usage
First inning
I watched the Biratnagar Kings vs. Kathmandu Gorkhas match that took place today. It was the second match today. For the first inning, I streamed the video for the majority of the time at 720p resolution. When the first inning was played, our (20 overs), I found that the streaming consumed 2.13 GB of data, which was some short of 2 hours. It was consuming just over 18 MB of data per minute. In the first inning, Kathmandu Gorkhas’ scorecard stood 134-6 in 20 overs.

Second inning
For the second inning, I set my video quality to auto mode so it switched between all three resolutions- 720p, 480p, and 360p. But mostly, it stood on 480p and 360p. That’s probably because it was evening and more users were on mobile data, which tends to affect data speed during this peak hour. And whoa!, The inning was completed in 17.1 overs, and it consumed only 570 MB as the total data usage showed 2.7 GB. And for the sake of staying authentic to the theme of this post, I stopped the streaming after the winning run.

Since the second inning didn’t last till the last over, we need to make some estimations. With 720p, the remaining 3 overs (let’s say) might have consumed at most 350 MB more. A 360p resolution would consume up to 90 MB more of mobile data.
NOTE: I streamed when the match started, so it doesn’t include the pre-match programs, interviews, and other activities.

Now, to the summary
In total, the NPL match took 2.7 GB of my mobile data. But for me, I was switching among different resolutions, obviously, to find out how much data the stream would take out of my data pack. But I want to share how much it would use for the entire match if done on 720p.
How much data does an NPL match use?
An entire NPL T20 match would consume an average of 4.25 GB of data if played out till 20 overs in both innings, taking about 4 hours. To break it down, a 720p resolution for around 4 hours would use 4.25 GB of data in total. If the video quality is set at 480p and 360p, it would consume roughly 2.83 GB and 1.42 GB, respectively.
| NPL match streaming quality | Data usage |
| 720p | 4.25 GB |
| 480p | 2.83 GB |
| 360p | 1.42 GB |
The good thing is that if you are watching on a smartphone, the 360p quality also feels very good. If you are on tablets, though, then you might want to watch at least 480p resolution as the large screen requires a higher resolution for crisp and sharp video quality.
In sum, I must tell you that watching the match on automatic video quality did drive down my data usage. If you are on less data volume, you should select this mode or set it to lower resolution and not on 720p.
Do note that whether it’s mobile data or WiFi, the data usage is about the same, but those on mobile data need to keep track of data as it comes through a particular subscription. WiFi runs unlimited (almost) for a month or more.
You can watch NPL 2025 on Kantipur Max HD if it’s on the TV you want.
My suggestions for an interrupted NPL 2025 streaming
Here are the prerequisites I feel you must have for a consistently smooth NPL 2025 streaming on any app, including Dish Home Go:
- A good network coverage
- Enough data on the subscribed pack or an unlimited connection
- Avoid being in crowded areas with a high number of data users
- At least 40% battery on your smartphone

Conclusion
Streaming NPL online is an exclusive experience. It’s ad-free, and the user-friendly interface plus minimalistic design is satisfying. Except for a few tidbits, I was fully satisfied with my streaming on the Dish Home Go app. I hope the majority of you are also feeling the same.
