State-backed operator NTC has launched its 4G mobile network in Tripurasundari Municipality of Dolpa. The operator launched the fourth-generation broadband service by setting up a cell tower (base station) in ward no. 10 in the municipality. The high-speed network now covers all the areas in Tripurakot and Pahad rural municipality. At the same time, residents in Liku and Lhan Rural Municipality have also got access to the “truest mobile broadband” for the first time.

The locals have been delighted with the availability of such high-speed mobile network in their area. Nepal Telecom says that the 4G service launch has fulfilled the long-held desire of the locals for a reliable mobile and internet service.

On this occasion, Janachandra Rokaya, the mayor of Tripurasundari Municipality said that the residents in the area are excited after getting the next-gen mobile connection and internet service. He added that the telco is also ready to cooperate in expanding telecommunication services in more remote areas.

Tripurakot, Pahad, and Liku are dense residential areas in Tripurasundari of Dolpa. It’s the first time that people in these areas have got a fast and reliable 4G connection all thanks to Ntc.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
