Nepal Telecom (Ntc) has set Rs 20 as its minimum online recharge amount. The company had previously set Rs 50 as the minimum required amount to recharge balance online which was then reverted to Rs 10. The new policy again slightly raises the minimum charging amount for Ntc users via digital wallets, mobile banking, and other digital means.
Earlier, the company had Rs 10 as the minimum recharge amount. The company recently hiked that to Rs 50 but after criticism, it was reverted. But the state-backed company has now required users to charge their balance starting from Rs 20.
Now, you can recharge your Ntc balance from Rs 20 to Rs 10,000 if you recharge online. A Rs 20 to 20.99 recharge offers validity of 7 days for Ntc SIM.
The company hasn’t made any announcement or released a notice about this change though. When the Rs 50 provision came out, the decision was scrutinized and the company had to reverse it back to Rs 10. Maybe the company has decided to do things more quietly now.

Ntc sets Rs 20 as its minimum recharge amount
To confirm it myself, I tried to recharge my Ntc number. I used Khalti by IME app to recharge my Ntc number. But as I reached the interface, the app showed that I could recharge between Rs 20 to Rs 10,000. That means there is no option to recharge with Rs 10.

If you check yourself on digital wallets and MPoS, you should be able to recharge Ntc SIM from Rs 20 above.

About Rs 20 minimum recharge on Ntc SIM
If you often recharge your Ntc number online, then the rule is applicable directly to you. You must spend at least Rs 20 to recharge your number. Before when Ntc made Rs 50 as the minimum balance to recharge online, the decision triggered debates. Some weighed in on its positives while others felt that the rule was not customer-friendly.
But addressing the customers’ values and demands, Ntc decided not to continue with the rule. Likewise, the Rs 20 rule should also divide users. While the Rs 20 offer flexibility for users, it also becomes helpful in urgent needs when a simple call or an SMS could be important. For me, a raise from Rs 10 to Rs 20 is a reasonably decent provision.
Private telco Ncell also implemented a similar minimum recharge. But while Ntc still allows a rather minimum top up amount, Ncell has raised it to Rs 50. It represents differing perspectives and approaches of the two telecom companies.
