Nepal Telecom a.k.a. Ntc has published an important notice to customers for enabling VoLTE while travelling to countries and use international roaming, where VoLTE is required. It is also essential to know that you need to activate VoLTE here in Nepal, before your travel.
Normally, international roaming can happen with legacy (2G/3G) networks too. Since many countries are shrinking 2G/3G network or have already shut down 2G/3G networks, you can only make calls via VoLTE in there. So, you need to have activated VoLTE in your number, while using international roaming, to make calls.
Nepal Telecom has also decided to turn off 3G network within some time but has not even thought about letting 2G go off.
Problem with not activating VoLTE while roaming
If you have not activated VoLTE in your number, while connected to Nepal Telecom network, you will face difficulties making or receiving calls while roaming in those countries. It is highly recommended to activate Ntc VoLTE in your number and handset too.
For Nepal Telecom, you can activate VoLTE by dialing *444# and press 2. Similarly, you need to have VoLTE enabled on your handset from your network settings.

If you still face difficulty in calling, you can also use Ntc VoWifi. But VoLTE activation in mandatory along with the VoWiFi support in your handset.
