Oppo has finally launched the new Oppo A16 phone in Nepal. It is a new entry-level smartphone under Oppo’s A-series. The smartphone arrives as the upgrade of its predecessor. Oppo A16 is an entry-level smartphone with average specs and features. So, let’s know more in detail about the specs, availability, and Oppo A16 price in Nepal below.
Oppo A16 is the successor to the Oppo A15 that was launched a year back in Nepal. The smartphone arrives with some upgrades and tweaks on it.
Starting off with the design of the phone it is very similar to Oppo A15. It has a plastic body and a shiny metallic finish at the rear. The screen has a slim design with a 3D curved body. The smartphone has a waterdrop notch that houses the front-facing camera. Further, Oppo A16 arrives with a rectangular camera bump on the top left corner and has Oppo branding on the bottom right corner.
Oppo A16 rocks a 6.52 inches（16.55cm）HD+ IPS LCD display along with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio, 88.7% screen-to-body ratio, 71% NTSC color gamut, 1500:1 contrast ratio (typical), 480 nits brightness (typical), and 269 PPI. The device also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock for security.
Turning our attention to the cameras, the Oppo A16 features a triple rear camera setup. The smartphone consists of a 13 MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 2 MP portrait camera with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2 MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.
On the front, it houses an 8 MP selfie camera along with an f/2.0 aperture that takes beautiful and attractive selfies. Focusing on the videography aspect of the smartphone, the rear camera is capable of recording videos up to [email protected] fps, [email protected] fps and the front camera can record at [email protected] or [email protected]
Powering the Oppo A16 is the octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 chipset. It is an octa-core chipset based on 12 nm processing with eight Cortex-A53 cores that clocks a maximum speed of up to 2.3Ghz. Whereas, it has PowerVR GE8320 GPU for the graphics. In terms of memory configuration, it comes with 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. You can also expand your storage via a dedicated MicroSD card slot.
On the software front, Oppo A16 runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 out of the box. It also features a system booster, Game Assistant, Black Screen Mode, and Flex drop. Here the system booster helps to reduce lag by 18% so users can download faster, optimized processing, prevent application interruption, and much more.
Oppo A16 gets its juices from the massive non-removable 5,000mAh battery. The battery charges via a USB Type-C port. Sadly, there’s no mention of the fast charging technology. The brand claims that you can enjoy 21.02 hours of non-stop YouTube entertainment. There is also Super Power Saving Mode 5 and Super Nighttime Standby Mode 6. Using Super Power Saving Mode 5 you can still make calls for 1.84 hours even if you have less than 5 % of battery. While Super Nighttime Standby Mode 6 will reduce power consumption at night by 1.21%. So, you can be carefree and use your gadget.
Talking about the connectivity options, it features 4G LTE, Dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, aptX, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS, USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, FM radio, loudspeaker, and a 3.5mm headphone slot.

The smartphone boasts an entry-level MediaTek G35 chipset, a triple camera setup, and a large 5,000mAh battery. To be honest, I am disappointed with the phone as it is completely the same phone like its predecessor Oppo A15 except for some minor upgrades. The Oppo A16 is an average-budget phone with mediocre features. It is very inferior to its competitors in the same price segment. So, the phone will find it very difficult to survive in the tech market.
