Design and Display

The phone boasts a premium feel along with an ultra-tough fiberglass back panel. The metal frame provides a strong basis for the phone while also being lightweight and durable. It’s SGS-certified for full-device high-strength protection against drops, bends, and crushing pressure. The device comes with IP68 certification for resistance to dust and water.

POCO X8 Pro Max features a 6.83-inch display with 2772 x 1280 pixels of resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and up to a massive 3500 nits of peak brightness. POCO has also used its next-gen M10 display panel, which it says comes with a red luminous material, achieving higher luminous efficiency and lower power consumption.

POCO X8 Pro Max is equipped with a dual-camera system. Running the show is the main 50 MP camera, a Light Fusion 600 image sensor, and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. Backed by a large aperture and dual native ISO fusion technology, the company says that the camera delivers sharp and vivid images even in low-light conditions. Plus, AI Creativity Assist allows users to unlock their creative zeal in photography with cool and efficient editing features.

The front-facing camera is a 20 MP unit, allowing users to take crisp and sharp selfies, record videos, or place video calls.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

POCO X8 Pro Max is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, a flagship-level processor of 3 nm building process. It comes with a 4+4 core design rocking up to 3.73 GHz clock speed to run heavy tasks with ease. The phone also boasts a 3D IceLoop cooling system backed by a 5800mm2 ultra-large LHP area. It means the phone can steadily maintain a cool temperature even if put under stress to play heavy games and run multiple apps.

For memory, the phone comes with 12 GB of RAM and has options to choose between 256 GB and 512 GB of RAM. In terms of power and performance, the model remains in line with POCO F7, POCO X7 Pro, and POCO F8 Pro.

The phone comes with a massive 9,000mAh battery. The company claims that it can provide 2 days of battery life under light to moderate use, including 74+ hours of calling, and 15+ hours of gaming. The battery is also claimed to last 6 years with 80% of capacity after 1600 charging cycles. It’s finely complemented by a 100W fast-charging ability. The battery charges up to 50% in just 24 minutes. It also serves as a mini power bank as it offers a 27W reverse charging amenity.

For security, it gets an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with press-and-slide fingerprint enrollment, which reduces setup time. It also supports wet hand unlocking, providing users with more convenience to unlock the phone even when the hand or the phone comes into contact with water. It’s got stereo speakers firing up to 400% volume boost. Let’s also not forget that the phone supports offline communication, allowing users to place calls using Bluetooth over short distances.
