Xiaomi Nepal has officially launched the Redmi Buds 5 TWS at an appealing price and some convenient features. The gadget is a successor to the Redmi Buds 4 and this time, it has become lighter and more compact. One of the best aspects of this Redmi Buds 5 is that it supports dual device pairing not to mention a hybrid Active Noise Cancellation feature. For those looking for budget earbuds below Rs 5,000 with noticeably convenient features, Redmi Buds 5 from Xiaomi could be the ultimate choice, here are its specifications and price in Nepal.

Redmi Buds 5 Overview

Design

Redmi Buds 5 comes in a rectangular shape, however, its edges are rounded. This should be likable as the roundedness makes it more comfy inside the pockets plus, makes for a better grip in hands. The nano-coated strips add visual aesthetics and also enhance durability. While opening the case’s lid, it doesn’t produce a click sound so it’s “peaceful” there too. In terms of its body, Xiaomi has made it at 42 grams making it lightweight against the Redmi Buds 4. But, each earbud is now heavier weighing 5.3 grams up from 4.5 grams of the Redmi Buds 4.

As for the charging port, it’s placed below the lid’s mouth in the front which is kind of against the market trend. The case has Redmi text etched on the lid in a minimalistic design. At a glance, the Redmi Buds 5 looks premium and compact. The touch (gesture) control system allows users to change volume levels, play/pause music, change songs, activate/deactivate ANC, etc. Likewise, Xiaomi has also given it the ability for users to customize gesture controls to their liking. Having earbuds for audio experience is the common trend now and if you pair this Redmi Buds 5 with Xiaomi/Redmi mobile phones, or any other Android and iPhones, the experience should be one level up.

Performance

Redmi Buds 5 audio 12.4mm dynamic drivers

The 12.4mm Dynamic Drivers on the earbuds should deliver excellent highs and mids. If you love bass in the music, you can optimize it through the Xiaomi Earbuds app. The ‘Enhance treble’, ‘Enhance bass’, and ‘Enhance voice’ let you choose audio modes to suit the music you are listening to. If the default Standard quality is not for you, then choosing either of these modes shall elevate your audio experience. The 46dB hybrid ANC can reduce background noise and improve the user experience even further. It supports SBC and AAC codecs.

The gesture controls like changing tracks or toggling ANC are set by default. You can though change them according to your liking. The dedicated Xiaomi Earbuds app efficiently bolsters the functionality of the Redmi Buds 5 earbuds. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.3 offers better range and connectivity which is convenient when you are away from the device enjoying audio in the earbuds. This gets better with the support of the Google Fast Pair.

Redmi Buds 5 IP54

The Redmi Buds 5 come with IP54 certification which keeps the device safe from water and dust. It boasts a 46dB Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) which means it can deflect up to 46dB noise blocking out 99.5% of background noise. Besides, there are three levels of ANC depending on the environment- Light for library, office, etc., Balanced which should be suitable in the streets, or at the gym, and Deep best at airports, bus stations, or crowded areas.

Dual device pairing

Redmi Buds 5 dual device pairing

One of the best features of the Redmi Buds 5 is its dual device pairing support. Many TWS earbuds in this budget price range don’t come with this feature to begin with. The feature enables you to switch to answer a call on your phone while watching a movie on a laptop. This can be done using the Xiaomi Earbuds app. Likewise, if you happen to forget where you kept your earbuds, you can find them by ringing through the Xiaomi app.

Battery and charging

Redmi Buds 5 battery

Each Redmi Buds 5 earbud comes with a 54mAh battery while the case features a 480mAh battery. Earbuds’ battery can last up to 10 hours on a single full charge when played at 50% volume and ANC if off. Likewise, a 10 minute of charge allows the earbuds to perform for up to 4 hours at 50% volume. According to Xiaomi, the earbuds can provide up to 38 hours of playback time allowing a marathon of music, calls, and audio experience.
