Delivering new innovation, Samsung has unveiled Galaxy Z TriFold, a multiphone gadget that competes with Chinese makers in the ultra-large screen device segment. It’s the first of its kind from Samsung; however, one cannot ignore its resemblance and differences from the Galaxy Z Fold7. Let’s get going.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Overview
Design and Display
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold nearly has the same dimensions as the Galaxy Z Fold7. Unfolded, its real estate spans 159.2 x 214.1 x 3.9-4.2 mm while the Z Fold7 stretches 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.2 mm. It’s kind of similar in its folded stature, too. The thickness, or let’s say, its slim profile, is quite impressive. But the latest craft weighs 309 grams, which makes it seem like a compact tablet, and in essence, it almost is when fully unfolded. In terms of material used, it has a titanium hinge housing and ceramic glass fiber-reinforced polymer on the back.

The Galaxy Z TriFold features a main 10.0-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1600 nits of peak brightness. Z Fold7 features a slightly smaller 8-inch screen but with higher nits of brightness. Likewise, the TriFold’s secondary screen is 6.5 inches with Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X and 2600 nits of brightness.
Processor and Software
The tablet-like Galaxy Z TriFold runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, not the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but that’s not really a huge concern. Similarly, it comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB and 1 TB of storage options. These resources are pretty high-end and deserve appreciation.
In terms of software, the lineup boots on One UI 8 (Android 16). There’s no official announcement from Samsung on how many years of OS support it gets. It surely shall have many. Galaxy Z Fold7 gets 7 years of major OS updates.
Camera and Photography
The camera specs of the Galaxy Z TriFold are similar to Z Fold7. It’s got the lens of a 200 MP main wide camera with OIS. Others include a 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. The setup is capable of shooting 8K videos at 30fps. Likewise, the front features a 10 MP camera while the cover camera is also a 10 MP module. From the front optics, users can take 4K videos at 30/60fps. Like on flagships like Galaxy S25 Ultra, the cameras here are sort of similar in their specs and the quality they deliver.

Battery, Connectivity, and Other Features
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold comes with a 5600mAh battery. It’s quite a rarity as Samsung doesn’t often surpass the 5000mAh battery specs on its phones. Even the Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with a 4400mAh cell. It’s paired with 45W fast-charging. It claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes. The device also supports 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It also supports 5G, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and other standard Android sensors. Like other Samsung phones, it comes with the DeX wireless feature as well. No doubt to say, there’s a whole suite of Galaxy AI features on this top-end device as well.

The phone is an antidote to similar gadgets from China, especially Huawei. We also hear that Apple is developing its own foldable phones. But time will tell if these phones will justify their presence and utility because so far, they have been more of an exhibition to reflect the OEMs’ innovation.
