Samsung Innovation Campus certifies 30 students for AI course

Samsung, through its Innovation Campus at the Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus has conferred certificates to 30 students for completion of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) course. At the same time, the third batch of aspiring 60 students has been welcomed. They will now study the Coding and Programming course, etc.

The certificate ceremony had the presence of prominent figures which included Mr. In Su Kim, Head of Samsung Nepal; Prof. Khadga K.C. Rector of Tribhuvan University; and Dr. Indra Prasad Acharya, Campus Chief of Pulchowk Campus. Also among the attendees was Dr. Sushil B. Bajracharya, the Dean of Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering.

The Samsung Innovation Campus is a global CSR initiative of Samsung and it was launched in Nepal in 2022. Since then, it has played a pivotal role in empowering youth with today’s advanced technologies.

The program complies with the South Korean tech giant’s theme of “Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People” which equips young talents with future-ready skills to prepare them for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The AI course runs over five months and stresses advanced AI concepts and practical applications.

A grand vision for innovation and education

“At Samsung, our vision of ‘Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People inspires us to empower youth through innovation and education. Seeing the dedication of these students and celebrating their achievements fills us with pride. We are excited to see the impact they will create in the future,” said In Su Kim.

Prof. Dr.Sushil B. Bajracharya, Dean of Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering, emphasized the course’s transformative impact: “The successful completion of the AI course is a testament to the immense value this program brings to our students. Samsung’s efforts in fostering innovation among Nepal’s youth are deeply appreciated, and we look forward to continued collaboration.”

Samsung Innovation Campus CSR Honing Youth in future tech skills

Samsung launched its global CSR program Samsung Innovation Campus at the Pulchowk Campus of Engineering in Nepal in December 2022. With it, Samsung seeks to train youth in Nepal on future tech skills. Courses range from Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data, and Coding & Programming. Additionally, it focuses on providing insights into contributing to the development of a strong technology and innovation ecosystem in Nepal. Students require knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and programming to be eligible for the course.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The program provides participants with real job skills and in-demand tech skills. As a result, students can improve their digital literacy, learning abilities, creativity, and employability.

The program also offers soft skills training to enhance students’ employability and ability to bring their knowledge to life. It nurtures problem-solving capabilities that will enable students to become innovative thinkers.

A milestone experience for the students

Under this program, students will undergo a practical project component. In this, students will face challenges to present projects of social significance in which AI, Big Data, Coding & Programming, and IoT play a role.
