Vivo is all ready to roll out one of its Y-series devices in the Nepali market. The device is non-other than Y20 and is the successor to Vivo Y19. Vivo Y series devices are youth-oriented and affordable. The company is known for its sleek designed smartphone targeting young consumers. The philosophy is the same in the Y20. Vivo Y20 price in Nepal to be set at around Rs. 25,000. Let’s learn more about this device.
Y20 flaunts a 6.51-inch Halo FullView display with a resolution of 1600×720. The display is basically a Water-drop IPS LCD and has an 81.6% Screen-to-body ratio. Vivo claims they have used the latest In-cell technology which makes the display more colorful and crystal clear in detail. They say it’s perfect for watching videos and gaming. The display has a Glass layer protection to avoid scratches and dents.
The design is sleek and impressive as always from Vivo. Y20 is light, ergonomic, and fits snugly in hand. It has a very shiny and polished finished. Volume rockers are placed at the left edge and right below it is the Side fingerprint mount which also acts as a Power button. 3.5mm headphone jack and MicroUSB connector are placed at the bottom edge. A rectangular camera module is placed at the top left corner of the phone whereas the company logo resides at the bottom left of the rear panel.
The company refers to this setup as the “New Era of Camera”. The setup combines three sensors; 13MP Main sensor + 2MP Bokeh sensor + 2MP Macro sensor. This setup is accompanied by a LED flash. This setup can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Vivo claims they have updated the Bokeh algorithm which results in more alive and boasts greater depth with a quality befitting magazine covers.
A single 8MP sensor is confined at the water-drop. It’s basically the device’s front camera used for snapping selfies. It can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The AI beauty mode of Vivo further enhances the performance of this setup to the maximum.
Vivo Y20 equips Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset to deliver performance. Octa-core CPU, Adreno 610 GPU, and 4GB RAM help the device for smooth work-flow. All these hardware runs on the latest Android 10 out of the box skinned with FunTouch 10.5 OS.
To make the maximum use of this setup, Vivo has featured Multi-Turbo 3.0. It includes a Center turbo that works on the system’s base level. An AI Turbo predicts and resolves system abnormalities before they happen. Gaming Assistant is also there to enhance the gaming experience. Other special features are Dynamic Effects, iManager Your Phone Butler, and EasyShare Instant Phone Clone.
64GB of internal storage is offered by the company in this device. Do not worry you still have storage expansion options if you need one. With the help of a MicroSDXC card slot, you can expand storage up to 256GB. You can store as much stuff you want to.
One of the main highlights and selling point of this device is its massive 5000mAh battery. It also has support to 18W Fast charge. The device can be charged from 0%-70% in 69 minutes as per company claims. Vivo has integrated AI power-saving mode which enables 16 hours of non-stop HD movie streaming in a single charge or 11 hours of resource-intensive gaming.
For connectivity, you have USB 2.0, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM, USB-On-The-Go, and OTG. When it comes to sensors, it has all the common sensors. Fingerprint mount sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, E-compass, gyroscope sensor, etc are all present. Including NFC could have been a good move.
Vivo Y20 is priced at INRS. 12,990 in India which is roughly Rs. 21,000 in Nepal. After it launches in Nepal it will surely be available in Vivo Official Showrooms and retail stores but its availability in Online Shopping sites is still a mystery. Vivo Y20 price in Nepal could be around Rs. 25,000 for the 6GB/64GB variant which is the only variant the device comes in.
Vivo is targeting to roll out Y20 for the Dashain festival but the actual date is still not confirmed. They are targeting the biggest in Nepal to gain more sales rates during that time. As for color options, there are two to choose from; Obsidian Black and Dawn White.
