Red number call

Being viral is something we cannot predict and need not be completely genuine. Viral news keeps on coming in Nepal specially due to social medias, public groups and Tea Guffs. Latest viral news in Nepal is about getting a call from red number. People have warned their family and friends, for not to pick up the calls from such red numbers. They say the number is in red and sometimes it is only 4 digit with +977. If someone picks up the phone, some say he/she will fall down immediately. Some even come to the extent that they have witnessed the death of people by picking up Red number call.

The location where the death or falling down of people have apparently happened, is also different for several online medias and social medias. Till now the locations are told to be Dhading, Nuwakot, Makwanpur and even Kathmandu. But there is not even a single proof (either a confirmation from police officials or government officials) for the claimed death in such region.

It is the most talked issue of this week and People here in Kathmandu are seriously following the news. They are also spreading the false threat. They are so much afraid that they switched off their phone after seeing any red number calls. We doubt that this is not the first post that you have read for the red number call. It may be true that someone is tweaking the mobile number color to spread a hoax. But we cannot believe that only the red number call make a person to fall down or die.

The hoax is also giving hard times to the telecom operator. People keep on asking the telcos to make comment on the issue. They only say the story to be untrue. But they don’t think it is necessary to make public release for such cheap level issue.

We are challenging the story.

Though we claim it to be a completely hoax, there are some people who believe it as someone might have told them to have witnessed the red number call. Now, we want to challenge the believer of the story to bring the proof for the red number call and the reported death, we will provide a reward to them. There may be some brave people who can answer the red number call and submit the proof. One of those people will also get some reward from our side. Lets see how many people believe this story.
