Huawei P20 and P20 pro launched with excessive AI features, latter with triple camera

Huawei has launched new flagship smartphones in their event in Paris on March 27, 2018. The Chinese handset maker unveiled the two phones P20 and P20 pro with radical looks from bezel less design including a notch. The phone also looks and feel better with the glossy glass back, metal combination and the slight curve. Along with the looks, P20 pro raises eyebrows with the new camera system and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Huawei P20 Pro has a triple camera system whereas P20 has dual camera system. The camera gets the highest score in any smartphone camera by Dxomark Benchmarks.

The 3 camera (triple camera) of P20 Pro is made in partnership with German camera company Leica. There are three cameras in the rear with 40 MP RGB, 20 MP Monochrome and 8 MP telephoto ones. The camera lets you take very nice photos in low light situations, with a new camera interface and AI image stabilization (AIS). P20’s dual camera system consists of 12 MP Color and 20 MP monochrome sensor, with Leica. The P20 Pro and P20 phone score a whopping 109 and 102 in Dxomark benchmarks. That benchmark is the highest ever in any smartphone. P20 phones contains 6 axis Image stabilizer, 1.55 micro meter sensor size and f/1.6 aperture. Due to the telephoto lens, you can make a hybrid zoom up to 5X. Both P20 phones can also take Super Slow Mo as found in Samsung Galaxy S9.

P20 comes in black, blue and rose hold color whereas P20 pro has black, blue and twilight (gradient fancy blue pink mix color).

Huawei P20 vs P20 Pro

Both of the phones are powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 970 processor and the NPU. Apart from the camera, P20 pro is a little bigger with 6.1 inch OLED screen whereas P20 has 5.8 inch LCD screen. P20 pro is little bit thinner than P20. P20 pro has 6 GB of RAM whereas the base version has 4 GB only. The battery size of P20 pro comes with 4000 mAh as compared that of 3400 mAH in P20. Both of them comes with fast charging. Ip67 Water and dust resistance is available in P20 Pro but not in P20.

There is also an expensive Porsche design P20 phone called Porsche Design Mate RS smartphone. It has similar specs to P20 pro, but with Wireless charging and in Screen fingerprint sensor. It is the first phone from Huawei to have the Wireless charging feature and In screen fingerprint.

Excessive use of AI

Huawei P20 series phones are feature full with the use of AI: Artificial Intelligence. What AI does, it adjusts the settings or configuration as per the requirement for better and efficient settings. Some of the features from AI in P20 are:

  • AI beautification
  • AI assisted composition for better
  • AI image stabilization
  • AI facial recognition
  • Master AI for better photo lighting
  • AI powered battery management

Most of the AI powers the smartphone’s camera, making it the best camera in a smartphone (at least in papers for now).
