Nepal Telecom (NTC), the first operator to bring 4G in Nepal, is set to expand the 4G to more areas by this Dashain. Before we had reported the works for the 4G LTE tower installation to have begun already.

  • 4G LTE Installation work already started
  • High-speed internet and more services
  • Project on track: Ntc MD
  • 6.5 million subscribers

Currently, the Nepal Telecom 4G is only available in Kathmandu and Pokhara city. They had launched the 4G network in 2017, being the first to do so in Nepal. Although being the first, Ntc could not utilize the first-mover advantage due to several issues. Their 4G expansion project also went through CIAA (Akhtiyaar) scrutiny. The antigraft body examined possible irregularities and later gave clean chit after nine months. That was also one of the major reasons for the delay. With the new 4G expansion project, Nepal Telecom (NTC) will expand their 4G coverage nationwide.

In the first phase, Nepal Telecom will provide the 4G coverage to 25 major areas from this Dashain festival. THT reports quoting Nepal Telecom’s MD Mr. Dilli Adhikari who is very positive about the progress of the expansion so far. He said that there had been some delays in initial days but after being back on track, the whole expansion work will complete within Mid of February 2020.

Similarly, they awarded both Network 1 and Network 2 to CCSI, Hongkong. As known, 70 percent of the Core network has been completed while Network 1 and Network 2 have 45% works completed. They are now preparing their network to roll out in a very smooth way, along with remaining works of Transmission and other radio equipment.

NTC is using the latest 4G technology to serve its customers, which will be around 6.5 million (65 lakh), users. With the updated technology in 4G, they will provide high-speed internet along with VoLTE, ViLTE and more. Read more features in Ntc 4G.
