Nepal Telecom has recently on-aired a new Mobile Base station located at Mardi Base camp’s popular trek route. A Mobile tower installed at Mardi High Camp now provides reliable phone calls and internet service.

Earlier, the mobile network reception in the tourist destination was poor, affecting tourists and locals in the area. Nepal Telecom’s Pokhara Office Incharge Mr. Narendra Man Singh Maharjan, informs of the new telecom tower installation at High Camp.

Ntc Mobile Tower at Mardi

Ntc establishes a new GSM Mobile tower at the high camp of the Mardi trek route, located inMacchapuchre Village body-9. The Tower is situated at an altitude of 3550 m. The local Village body and Mardi Trek Tourism entrepreneurs have also supported Nepal Telecom in the tower establishment.

As there was no electricity supply, Ntc has installed a Solar powered base station with an Omnidirectional antenna. The tower will benefit the Mardi route, Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) route, and the several villages around the area.

Mardi Base camp (4500m) is one of the trendy tourist destinations for domestic and foreign travelers. People can also reach the MBC from Pokhara within a day by trekking from Siding. In some seasons, snow covers the higher trek routes, making it difficult for people to find the exact way. The unavailability of reliable mobile networks adds more adversity to the people in such conditions.

As known, the Mardi Highcamp Tower includes both 2G and 3G base stations. With this new tower, it will be easier for the trekkers to navigate the way out in such harsh weather conditions. You also get an excellent mobile network signal at Mardi Base camp and the routes. Similarly, this will also promote tourism in the locations where people share the live streams from the fascinating mountain region. Recommended read: 3G vs. 4G, which mobile network to use?

It seems Nepal Telecom will not stop there only; they are to expand more in the Annapurna Base camp (ABC) region using a transmission link from the High camp Tower. This high camp tower is just a start, as there is a need of more base stations in the area for complete mobile coverage.

Further, they can also expand 4G service to the Mardi Base camp, using the same infrastructure. But they need to make their Solar system robust or look for electricity supply for more adverse weather stability.
