Private telecom company Ncell has become a signatory to adopt the GSMA Principles for Driving the Digital Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. The move highlights the telco’s commitment to promoting digital connectivity and bridging the digital divide among all.

The milestone collaboration with GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) represents Ncell’s commitment to democratize connectivity and digital services for all individuals, regardless of their ability to benefit from the opportunities mobile technology has to offer.

Ncell has officially become the first telecom company from Nepal to sign these GSMA principles. These principles work as a “global framework to inspire and guide mobile operators in promoting digital inclusion and closing the mobile usability gap,” Ncell presser said. GSMA is a non-profit trade organization that represents the interests of global telcos.

Ncell furthers commitment to promoting connectivity by signing GSMA principles

By penning its agreement for GSMA principles, Ncell has displayed its ongoing efforts to ensure connectivity reaches all groups. The company provides Ncell Sadhain ON data with a 50% discount for people with disabilities. Also, the company provides accessible customer care centres, fully disability-friendly office infrastructures, and works to empower para-athletes of Nepal, among many other programs for the specially-talented people.

“As a leading GSM mobile service provider, Ncell focuses on inclusion, sustainability, and purpose-driven innovations,” the company says. It adds that in the future, it will continue to improve service accessibility, promote inclusive practices, and engage communities to make meaningful contributions in the underserved communities.

GSMA Signatories

“At Ncell, we are not just enabling connectivity—we are empowering lives. By committing to the GSMA’s Principles for Driving the Digital Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, we are taking a step forward in ensuring that no one is left behind in Nepal’s digital future. Together, we aim to create an inclusive and empowered society to thrive in the digital world,” said Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Director of Ncell Foundation and Special Projects.

Ncell pledges disability-friendly products and services

As a GSMA Principles signatory, Ncell has pledged to incorporate accessibility into its organization strategy, design inclusive products and services, and actively engage with disability community to address their needs more effectively.

Being a signatory of GSMA Principles, Ncell joins hands with a growing list of global telecom operators working together to render mobile technology more inclusive and ensure that every person with special talent are empowered.

This cooperation with GSMA is Ncell’s further extension of its CSR initiatives. The company is highly active in conducting community projects instead of seeking commercial value. By promoting mobile technology for people with disabilities, the company seeks to guarantee that every person benefits from cellular technology and innovation.
