Galaxy S26 phones get AirDrop feature, find rollout plan

Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus price in Nepal

Samsung has launched the AirDrop feature for Galaxy S26 series phones through Quick Share, allowing faster file sharing between Android and iOS. The feature first arrived in South Korea, and in the latest development, users in the US have received the update.

How do Samsung users get to use AirDrop on Galaxy S26?

First, Galaxy S26 users need to update their phone to the latest software available. After the update, the phone shows a ‘Share with Apple devices’ toggle in the Quick Share settings. It can be used to easily pair with iPhones and other supported Apple products for convenient file sharing. The cross-platform file-sharing has been one of the most sought-after ones after all. Good that it’s rolling out to more regions.

But to use it, users need Google Play Services version 26.11.XX or newer.

Prior to this, sending files between these two major platforms was exhausting. You might have even sent files through email and then uploaded them to the cloud or used a third-party app. The long way has been cut short with this native support on S26 phones.

What’s the catch with AirDrop on Android right now?

Despite the news being all good, currently, Samsung’s AirDrop file-sharing is available on S26 phones only. But the company has shared that it plans to roll out the feature to older Galaxy devices, too, but at a later date. However, the South Korean tech giant refused to offer any time frame or provide a list of compatible devices.

It means I am not sure if my Galaxy S23 Ultra will get it.

AirDrop Arrival Timeline

Google launched AirDrop compatibility on the Pixel 10 series in late 2025. Later, it suggested that the feature may come to more Android phones in a solid indication of wider cross-platform compatibility beyond Pixel phones. Besides Pixel and Samsung, OPPO has also teased a similar feature for the Find X9 series.

As for Samsung users, the company brought the AirDrop feature on March 23, first in South Korea. Then it expanded to Europe, India, and other regions. We can now patiently wait to get this feature on our Galaxy S26 phones.
