Vibe coding on Samsung smartphones

Smartphone giant Samsung is bringing vibe-coding to its Galaxy phones using the power of AI. The plan could seriously prop up the company’s AI ambitions on its phones and further strengthen the case for the use of AI on phones.

This development follows the launch of the ‘Now nudge’ feature on Samsung. It comes under Galaxy AI, and basically, it provides helpful information on things that are on the screen. Recently, the brand even called it the Galaxy S26 series ‘AI phones’ rather than smartphones. This allows users to write apps and customize phones to their wishes.

What is vibe coding?

Vibe coding is a fancy term that simply means coding. In layman’s terms, it is a feature that allows people with minimal to zero knowledge of coding to write their own apps and services. It uses AI to develop apps as the user desires.

In recent times, the growing use of AI has also unlocked vibe coding for many. People who lack in-depth knowledge and skills for coding are also ‘vibe coding’ to create apps. While some poke fun at people who vibe code for their lack of original skills in coding, it’s indeed gone extremely popular. There are some precedents to strengthen the case. In 2025, Base44 founder Maor Shlomo sold his company for $80 million. He built the company by vibe coding, mostly.

Samsung plans for vibe coding on smartphones

Won-Joon Choi, head of Samsung’s mobile experience division, shared with TechRadar that the company might unlock vibe coding on its Samsung phones, unlocking “the possibility of customizing your smartphone experience in new ways, not just your apps but your UX.”

“Right now we’re limited to premade tools, but with vibe coding, users could adjust their favorite apps or make something customized to their needs,” he stated.

Samsung hasn’t shared any timeline on when exactly it could launch Vibe coding on phones. However, we are looking at the possibility rather soon.

Nothing has brought an “Essential Apps” allowing users to generate home screen widgets with apps using AI. Anthropic has also unveiled an AI agent that lets developers and non-developers bake their apps by vibe coding. It’s a growing trend, and Samsung could make it big by democratizing it to millions of users.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
