Nepal Telecom (NTC) has extended the validity of free data and voice announced for four districts to ensure connectivity in the aftermath of the devastating floods that originated in Bhotekoshi. The floods started on the morning of August 26 and remain active. The national telco has announced that in the four districts, users can call and use the data service free of cost to keep people connected.
Previously, the service was made available till Bhadra 14. But considering the ongoing situations, continuous search, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts, the telco has said that the services are available for free until its next announcement.
NTC has also started playing CRBT to alert the users on the Bhotekoshi floods.

Nepal Telecom provides free data and voice after Rasuwa floods
Nepal Telecom has provided free data and voice services in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, etc. to help with rescue efforts. As per the company, the free resources were first available for users between Bhadra 12 to 14. Now, it will continue until further decision on its validity.
The free resources help the government and non-government entities involved in search operations while also ensuring that normal people stay connected with the latest weather forecast and contact their near and dear ones until the disasters effect thaw.
The company is providing unlimited voice service, 2 GB data per day, and 50 SMS free of charge to residents in the area for two days, the company’s spokesman Kamal Lamichhane had earlier said. Now with the extension, the total validity for these services reaches five.
Private telco Ncell also announced resources im Bhotekoshi flood-affected areas.
The floods have also affected 120 of NTC’s sites across the country in the Bhotekoshi floods. But as of writing this post, the company has restored 93 of those sites. Similarly, Ncell provided free calls, data, and SMS for Rasuwa flood-affected areas. It has also acted fiercely on service restoration.
