WorldLink Communications Ltd. has reached 1.1 million (11 lakh) customers in its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) service. The figure makes the company the largest internet service provider (ISP) in Nepal in terms of user base. According to the company, it commands 35% market share of Nepal’s FTTH broadband market.

“We are proud to celebrate another incredible milestone with you—our valued WorldLink community! A milestone made possible by you. Your trust has helped us connect 11 lakh households across Nepal, bringing people, families and communities closer every day,” the company shared in its Facebook post.

WorldLink started service in 1995, providing email services. Over the years, the company evolved from dial-up to wireless, and today, it has become a powerhouse in fiber internet service. According to the NTA report for Asar 2083, the company provides cable and wireless services too. But it’s mainly a fiber internet service provider. And it leaves every other ISP far behind in terms of customer base. After WorldLink trails Nepal Telecom, boasting over a 3.94 lakh customer base. The private ISP reached a 1 million user base in March 2025.

The company brought fiber internet service in 2015, after which it rapidly accelerated the rollout of fiber broadband nationwide. It says that its focus is on expanding and improving its quality of services across the country.

The company has emphasized the rollout of WiFi 6 technology as part of its efforts to improve customers’ broadband experience. The company says that compared to WiFi 5, WiFi 6 provides faster and more reliable internet speeds, less latency, wider coverage, and overall better performance.

WorldLink reaches 1.1 million (11 lakh) customers across 74 districts

As WorldLink crosses a 11 lakh customer base, the company says that its services are now available in 74 districts across the country. Its services cover areas in the mountains, hills, and plains in the Terai region. The expansion and availability of its services are key reasons behind its envious user base and success in the industry. The company has brought its FTTH service to remote areas such as Jumla and the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The company says that it will continue to expand the service to more areas in the coming days.

According to WorldLink, the 11 lakh user base is more than just its business achievement. The company has extended the credit for its milestones to its customers, employees, partners, and stakeholders. The company says that it is committed to bringing innovative technologies, better service quality, and delivering a better user experience in the coming years.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
