The government of Nepal has launched a Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program, which enables a citizen to win Rs 1 lakh every day and Rs 10 lakh for two months a month. The scheme is for people with VAT and PAN. Through this scheme, the Ministry of Finance and Inland Revenue Department (IRD) are rewarding conscious consumers across Nepal.
Nepali citizens who are registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) and have their Permanent Account Number (PAN). Besides, it requires that people pay their bills online or in cash for transactions exceeding Rs 100 to be eligible for this scheme.
To participate, you have to keep the original invoice after you pay at hotels, restaurants, etc. The unique invoice number is the lucky number that earns you Rs 1 lakh or a million.
According to the government, winners will be selected on the 1st and 16th of each month in an automated electronic system. One daily winner and one bumper winner will be selected for each day through this process.
The daily winner receives a cash prize of Rs. 133,334, and the fortnightly bumper winner will earn a prize of Rs. 1 million. The prize money is deposited into the winner’s bank account after deducting 25 percent of the incidental profit tax as per the rules.

How to participate in the government’s taxpayer incentive gift and win Rs 1 lakh or a million?
You need to meet the following criteria to be eligible to participate in the government’s taxpayer incentive gift program:
- Spend Rs 100 or more on the purchase of goods or services within Nepal that are for personal consumption.
- Pay online via mobile or web, or upload the invoice manually on the web portal or mobile app of the IRD, including the invoice number, seller’s PAN, date, customer’s name, contact, etc.
- Every invoice gives you a ticket in the automated system.
Winner selection process
- The IRD conducts an automated lucky draw on the 1st and 16th of every month.
- On the 1st, draws cover transactions from the 16th of the previous month to the end of that month.
- On the 16th, draws cover transactions from the 1st to the 15th of the current month.
- The automatic system selects one daily winner and one fortnightly bumper winner for the period.
- The winners are notified via their mobile number and email, and their names will be published on the official IRD website and social media.
How to Claim Your Prize?
If you win, you need to do the following to claim your Rs 1 lakh or Rs 1 million under the government’s taxpayer incentive gift scheme:
- Apply to the nearest Inland Revenue Office (IRO) within 15 days of the announcement of the winner
- You must present your original invoice, official ID such as National ID, Citizenship, Passport, or Driver’s License, bank account details, and PAN.
In case the claim is not made within 15 days, the gift amount will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, as per the procedure. If anyone submits false or forged documents, action will be taken as per the prevailing law.
What purchases are not eligible in the taxpayer incentive gift program?
The finance ministry says that in the following circumstances, the transactions won’t be eligible for the taxpayer gift:
- Purchases made for commercial or business purposes.
- Invoices issued in the name of government offices or public institutions.
- Invoices for telephone, internet, electricity, vehicles, freight/transportation, or air tickets.
- Invoices issued by vendors who do not have a Permanent Account Number (PAN).
The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Finance, has issued and implemented the “Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program Operation Procedure, 2083” to bring the scheme into operation. The objective of the program is to promote a culture of mandatory receipt and payment of bills/invoices in the purchase and sale of goods and services and to enhance tax compliance.
