Meta-WorldLink data center details
The data center of Meta-WorldLink is going to be a Tier-3 standard. This means it is an advanced and highly capable facility. It can stay operational even during repair and maintenance. We don’t know the exact further details on this; however, the expectations are that more information will be available around June.
The data center could play a key role in ensuring a safe and secure storehouse for banks, operators, fintech firms, eCommerce, and other companies.
For the unaware, Meta is the parent company of many popular social networking apps. Its services include Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, etc. The significant presence of a firm as large as this will highly enhance Nepal’s exposure to the world for data centers. At the same time, employment generation and technology exchanges can become other benefits for Nepal’s IT sector and professionals.
In the broader picture, Nepal is yearning to become an IT hub in South Asia. The current ruling party, the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s manifesto, clearly mentions the goal of becoming an IT hub in the region.
WorldLink, Ncell, and government enterprises also have data centers in Nepal. The growth of such infrastructure not just helps strengthen data security for companies, but also plays a role in employment generation and boosts the local economy too.
