Prominent internet service provider WorldLink Communications Ltd. has completed the construction of its data center “Data World” in Chandragiri, Kathmandu. The 3.5-megawatt IT power capacity facility is Nepal’s largest data center to date.
The data center is located near the Mata Tirtha substation at the base of Chandragiri in Kathmandu. The company believes that the infrastructure will play an important role in growing people’s access to data services and strengthening Nepal’s digital infrastructure.
WorldLink’s Chandragiri data center has a 3.5-megawatt IT power capacity and 520 racks. According to the ISP, it gets a continuous power supply as it’s near a substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). WorldLink says that its data center in Chandragiri is Nepal’s first tier-3 infrastructure
WorldLink says that its data center in Chandragiri is Nepal’s first-ever tier-3 and Edge-certified green facility. Being the largest ISP in Nepal in terms of customer base, it aims to operate cutting-edge technologies reliably. Edge data center means one that is near users and devices that exchange data. Being an “edge” data center, WorldLink seeks to make communication services even easier for customers.
Speaking more of it, the data center is earthquake-resistant and carrier-neutral. If you do not know, a carrier-neutral data center means it doesn’t belong to one service provider only. Additionally, it’s suitable for cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML).

WorldLink says its Chandargiri Data Center will be up for use for businesses
The private ISP WorldLink is making its Chandragiri data center available for other businesses too. It aims to provide trustworthy data storage and communication facilities to Nepali telecom companies, ISPs, and other businesses through the data center.
The ISP expects that the data center will help pivot Nepal as a global technology hub. It will come into operation in about four months. Going ahead, it aims to start an edge data center in each province and major location in the country with high demography. There’s a plan to build 14 world-class data centers worth NRs. 3 billion.
Data centers have become key for companies’ own operations as well as business purposes. Firms need data centers to store their data, provide services in real-time, back up data, caching etc. WorldLink’s data center in Chandragiri is very ambitious and big. Ncell has its own data center in Nakkhu too while Nepal Telecom is also building its own in Bhairahawa and Kathmandu. Apparently, Huawei seems to be the data center gear provider for both Ntc and Ncell.
WorldLink states that its data center in Chandragiri provides businesses with higher capacity and superior connectivity services.
