Bichuten Data Vault (BDV) Pvt. Ltd. has announced that it will build Nepal’s first-ever Tier-4 Hyperscale Data Center. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision to make Nepal a digital hub in South Asia and achieve digital independence by keeping data within the country’s infrastructure.
According to the company, the project aims to make Nepal the most reliable digital hub in South Asia. Under this plan, the primary site will be built in Chobhar, Kathmandu, and the other in Birgunj, near the border with India.
The project aims to strengthen Nepal’s reliance on local infrastructure for keeping data. Bichuten has collaborated with international tech giants such as VVDC Technologies, Google Cloud, AMD, and Micron for the data center. The company is led by entrepreneurs Naveen Agarwal, Min Agarwal (Fair Group), Anuj Keyal (Keyal Group), Vishal Kumar Jatia, and Sharad Goel.

As per Bichuten Presser, here are the key features of its Tier-4 data center being built:

- Scalability and Capacity: At first, the data center will run at a capacity of 240 kilowatts. But the ambition is to increase it to 5 megawatts by 2030. In terms of investment, the project is estimated to be worth Rs 2.5 billion.
