Summary✨

  • Ncell provided free voice, data, and SMS services to over 300,000 customers affected by the Bhotekoshi floods.
  • The free services began on August 26, 2026, and extended beyond the initial three days due to ongoing needs.
  • Ncell restored 24 out of 27 mobile towers, ensuring connectivity in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.
  • The company reactivated over 25,000 SIM cards to assist those whose services were suspended, promoting better communication.
  • Ncell continues to work on network restoration while offering free services to support those impacted by the floods.

Ncell says that over 300,000 customers have benefited from its free services after the devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa. The company has provided free voice, data, and SMS services in the areas affected by the floods to ensure users and rescue operators remain connected.

Ncell has been providing free services since Wednesday, August 26, 2026, for customers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan to enable them connectivity during the unprecedented catastrophe.

The telco says that users who were active in the affected areas during the seven days before the floods were automatically eligible for free services. Initially, Ncell offered free services after the Bhotekoshi floods for three days, but considering the grave situation and need for connectivity, it extended the validity for another seven days.

Services worth Rs 10 million used by customers

According to Ncell, voice, data, and SMS services worth over Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore) in total were used by customers. The company added that the use surged in frequency as more sites were gradually restored in the past week.

27 Ncell Towers Affected, 24 Restored after Bhotekoshi floods

Ncell restored 24 tower sites out of 27 after the Bhotekoshi floods, in a week’s time. The company has strategically set these sites in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. So, as of writing this article, only 3 sites are out of service.

The three sites include towers in Ghattekhola and Timure in Rasuwa and Trishuli, Bidur in Nuwakot. Ncell says that these sites may have suffered physical damage and is currently carrying out technical assessments and restoration work.

More Than 25,000 SIM Cards Reactivated

To support relief from disasters with connectivity, Ncell has also reactivated more than 25,000 SIM cards to help customers remain connected.

The reactivated SIMs include those with outgoing services suspended due to a lack of balance top-up. It also included those with both incoming and outgoing services suspended. These customers are also eligible for Ncell’s free voice, data and SMS services.

Ncell said that its initiatives have helped affected people stay in contact with their family and relatives, coordinate rescue and relief efforts, and seek assistance during the emergency.

As of now, Ncell continues its efforts to completely restore all of its network while providing free services to customers to help maintain communication in the affected areas.
