Apple iPhone 14 Pro has been awarded the Best Smartphone award by GSMA at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. Launched back on September 16, 2022, the series has been lauded for its specs and value. The series also won the Disruptive Device Innovation Award for the Emergency SOS via Satellite feature in the same Device category. The feature has been groundbreaking since the US phone maker introduced it in the iPhone 14 lineup compelling others to integrate satellite communication features in their handsets too.
The emergency SOS feature in all iPhone 14 series including iPhone 14 Pro Max lets users send messages from remote areas without a traditional cellular network. It’s crucial for times when someone is stranded in the wild and there’s no telephone tower. The feature has been revolutionary in the sense that many other phone makers have started adding the feature to their phones. After Apple, Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon satellite feature at CES in January 2023. The company has revealed that the upcoming devices from Xiaomi, vivo, Realme, and others will be equipped with satellite connectivity.
Likewise, TCL Mobile also won the Best Connected Consumer Device for its NXTWEAR Watch in the Device category.
