Ncell reverts to the previous recharge validity scheme

Ncell recharge validity

It’s OFFICIAL! Private telco Ncell has revoked its recharge validity structure. The decision addresses the customers’ demand for a softer and more lenient validity period upon balance recharges.

After the news of Ncell reverting back to its previous recharge validity emerged, social media has gone abuzz with praise and delight on the telco. Some said that it was the right thing to do while others are jubilant that the telco listened to the customers. Anyway, the gist is, the decision now ends the acrimony that had started after Ncell started its existing validity plans.

When the new recharge validity began, many users were less than happy. Especially those who recharge their Ncell SIM for less than Rs 50 felt that they were made to recharge more often because of the new validity scheme. What happened? The new validity structure came with 7 days of validity per recharge of amount Rs 50 to Rs 99.99 and 14 days on recharge of amount Rs 100 to Rs 199.99. Prior to this, there was 30 days of validity in place of 7 and 60 days for 14 days.

This narrow validity days affected users who mostly recharge for amount below Rs 200. Users who stay online via WiFi and occasionally use carrier for voice, data, and SMS may likely come into this group. And there were demands that Ncell rescind on it which it did.

Why Ncell lowered its recharge validity at first?

Ncell had lowered its minimum validity down to 7 days for some fair reasons too. The company, like the telco industry itself, has seen its financial gains get lower in recent years. The users rely more on OTT apps for calls and use carrier network less for voice, SMS, and data. Many also use WiFi at home and office so they end up recharging much less on SIM card. Again, there is a section of users who use Ncell SIM card as secondary to only call other Ncell users.

Ncell said that it implemented the debated validity scheme to encourage users to recharge and benefit its services to the maximum and stop using its SIM for incoming calls even if there’s no balance. Having users recharge their SIM card also helps the telco sustain its businesses and stay afloat in the current times as the telco industry faces severe challenges. However, the customers conveyed their dissatisfaction to the company and some also said that they could consider switching to other network under the existing scenario. But the company responded positively.

The new validity

As you can see in the table below, the current validity for recharging with Rs 50 to Rs 99.99 would provide 7 days of validity. This is now changed to 30 days as it was previously. Similarly, the 14 days validity is reverted back to 60 days upon recharge of Rs 100 to Rs 199.99. If you recharge with Rs 1000 and above, you get 730 days of active service. That means you can dial numbers, use data, send SMS, and also receive incoming calls.

Rs 300 – 499.9935200

Ncell is also in plans to introduce an ISP-like subscription model service. So, let’s see if that materializes soon. That will be interesting to experience.

When is the new Ncell recharge validity coming into effect?

It already has. Thankfully, Ncell has already implemented its new recharge validity schemes, and you can already benefit from it the way you had previously. To assure you, I recharged my Ncell SIM with Rs 50 and that brought me a month of validity that you can see in the screenshot below. Cheers!

Ncell recharge validity

If you were concerned with Ncell service due to the shorter recharge validity scheme, you must be extremely delighted now. Credit must go to Ncell for listening to its customers. For me personally, it’s kind of a new year gift from the telco. I, like many others was at dismay because my carrier network requirements are out of home, so I recharge quite less but have been using Ncell since Mero Mobile days. So, I am really thankful to the telco for this generous and necessary move.
