Nepal Telecom (Ntc) has canceled its minimum Rs 50 recharge and top-up rule. The company implemented the rule on Falgun 15, 2081. However, after a week or so, it reverted the rule. That means you can now recharge your Ntc balance online with an amount as low as Rs 10.
Ntc spokesman Hari Dhakal confirmed the cancellation of the minimum Rs 50 online recharge. He said that the company was in wait-and-see mode after implementing the new recharge amount policy and has reversed on it.
To confirm it myself, I tried to recharge my Ntc phone. I used an MBL mobile banking app to recharge my Ntc number with Rs 30. Viola, it worked! Previously, I tried to do something similar but recharge didn’t succeed because of the minimum Rs 50 rule. The reversal of the rule should apply to every Ntc user already
If you check yourself on digital wallets and MPoS, you should be able to recharge Ntc SIM below Rs 50 too.

Ntc tracks back from minimum Rs 50 balance recharge rule
After Ntc made Rs 50 minimum balance to recharge online, users could only recharge their Ntc mobile balance with at least Rs 50 on digital wallets, mobile banking apps, and MPoS. So, the decision triggered debates. Some weighed in on its positives while others felt that the rule was not customer-friendly.
But addressing the customers’ values and demands, Ntc decided not to continue with the rule. So, this will please section of Ntc users who couldn’t feel positive with the previous minimum recharge policy.
Private telco Ncell has also implemented a similar recharge validity rule, though backed from the 7-day validity. But Ntc reversed its decision on the minimum Rs 50 recharge rule. It does show different ways each companies apprach their strategies.
