Apple has launched the iOS 18.5 update with some exciting features, such as emergency satellite connectivity coming to the iPhone 13. The new update also brings a new Screen Time feature and other features. Here’s more.
Emergency satellite comes to iPhone 13
The iOS 18.5 update brings Emergency SOS via satellite communication to the iPhone 13. Before this, the exclusive facility was only available for iPhone 14 and later. Satellite feature enables you to send an SMS to dispatchers or share, which can be lifesaving in critical situations. It’s a vital alternative when there is no cellular coverage to connect. Thankfully, the new update finally brings this capability to the iPhone 13.
However, the feature is not available in Nepal. Starlink satellite internet is not yet available in Nepal. But if you are abroad, here, you can learn how to use satellite connectivity on iPhones.
The update was launched along with iPadOS 18.5, which brings new changes to Apple iPads.
Other new changes with iOS 18.5
Other new updates with iOS 18.5 include a new feature for Screen Time. It’s a parental control program from Apple that alerts parents if their child enters the correct passcode to get Screen Time permissions.
Likewise, iOS 18.5 has a new update for the Mail app. Now, it’s easier to get the “All Mail” category as its own tab. Apple has also brought a new Pride Harmony wallpaper to celebrate its diversity theme and commitment.
Apple has also fixed a bug that would launch the Apple Vision Pro app with a black screen if it was downloaded from the App Store. The company also fixed bugs for Siri and other issues.
