Samsung launches Exynos 2500, its first-ever 3nm chipset

Samsung Exynos 2500

Samsung has launched the Exynos 2500 smartphone chipset, which is the company’s first-ever 3nm silicon built on a 3nm GAA node. The new processor upgrades upon Exynos 2400 and will power some of its upcoming flagship phones.

The chipset features a 1+7+2 deca-core CPU architecture and clocks up to 3.3 GHz of speed. We discuss more about its features, what smartphones may use it, and plenty more about its capabilities.

Performance

The chipset uses one Cortex-X5 with a clock speed of 3.3 GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores at 2.36 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores running at 1.8 GHz.

Samsung Exynos 2500 delivers 15% faster multi-core CPU performance and 39% faster NPU. For gaming, it promises 28% faster frame rate in “raytracing,” meaning more immersive gameplay. This is complemented by the customized 4th-generation Xclipse 950 GPU.

Exynos 2500

To compare, Snapdragon 8 Elite, features 8 cores with two prime cores rocking at 4.32 GHz while six other cores running at 3.53 GHz.

Even though Samsung’s won’t look great on the paper, it’s real-life performance won’t be below the standards. The diverse core system translates to better performance optimization instead of raw hardware capability. This also proves better for the battery efficiency of end devices.

The chipset is 39% faster than Exynos 2400 in AI processing [59 trillion operations per second (TOPS)]. At the same time, it is compatible with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage systems, which are pretty standard on the premium chipsets these days.

Camera

The chipset supports up to 320 MP camera sensors in theory and up to 8k 30fps video shoot. Likewise, it’s got native GPU and DSP that render a 4K screen at 120 Hz.

Connectivity

The Exynos 2500 chipset provides support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. It also lends support to the USB 3.2 Type-C port. Another highlight of the chipset is its Exynos 5400 5G modem, which promises up to 12.1 Gbps download speeds.

It’s also notable that it supports satellite communication [non-terrestrial network (NTN)]. But whether such a communication feature comes to the upcoming premium devices remains to be seen.

Which phones will use the Exynos 2500 chipset?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to use the Exynos 2500 chipset which is expected to launch on July 9, 2025. The company also uses Qualcomm chipsets on its phones, more remarkably on its premium flagships such as the Ultra lineups. But the odds could be higher for Exynos 2500 to get a share with the upcoming premium Samsung phones. Only time will tell.
