Facebook has included Nepal in the list of eligible countries for monetization, opening doors for creators to earn from their content on Facebook.
Prior to this, Facebook’s parent company, Meta, enabled a monetization facility on an ‘Invitation Basis’ only. But now, the company has officially begun monetizing eligible accounts in Nepal. As of this post, many Facebook users in Nepal have shared their accounts being monetized.
This comes after Meta phased out its Ads and Performance Bonus programs on August 31, which allowed creators to earn through in-stream ads, ads on reels, and performance bonuses. Now, monetization has replaced them all.
Those users (creators) who operate pages or have converted their normal profiles into professional ones are eligible for content monetization.

What is Facebook Content Monetization, and How to Earn?
Facebook Content Monetization is a way of earning through content. Users can earn through their posts, photos, reels, stories, and videos they post on Facebook. Meta attaches ads to this content and gives a share of the income to the creators.
So, the rule of thumb is, the more engaging content creators, the higher the chance of monetization and earnings.

What Content is Not Eligible for Monetization?
Meta has strict community standards policies. Therefore, only eligible content will give users an earning opportunity. Having said so, content that ignites hatred, contains violence, misinformation, and promotes communal conflicts doesn’t qualify for monetization.
The US tech company also says that it will block duplicate content and reposts. It is strict against algorithm manipulation, too. We have seen many users sharing a few-second videos as a hack to court visibility. That might suffer in the coming days.
Therefore, you also need to be careful enough not to resort to hacks or manipulation for a higher reach of your content for monetization.

Facebook Monetization and a Local Bank for Amount Withdrawal
Meta has also allowed Nepali content creators with a monetized Facebook account to use their local bank details to receive payments. Prior to this, users had to resort to unofficial ways to link their Facebook account with Nepali banks. However, Meta has itself brought the facility for Nepali users to set up their preferred bank’s account for payment.
A New Era for Facebook in Nepal Amidst Ban Acrimony
With monetization opened for Nepali users, Meta has started a new era for itself and users in Nepal on Facebook. Now, users can utilize their content on Facebook to source an extra income. It promotes the digital economy and harvests remittances into Nepal as well. However, the feature comes just after the government gave its final ultimatum to register in Nepal or face a ban. This ultimatum concludes on Thursday, September 04, 2025.
The government has not given an exact explanation of what happens after the deadline or how it will approach the ban. However, the decision of the government has been met with both criticism and support. Let’s see how things unfold, but the thing with monetization has certainly pleased Facebook content creators in Nepal.
