CEO’s Statement

Ms. Sewa Pathak, CEO of Vianet Communication said, “Our customers have always been at the center of everything we do, and we understand that their internet needs are evolving with time. Therefore, we are excited to bring the latest technology to Nepal and provide the fastest internet service in the country. This launch is a testament to our commitment to bringing the best-in-class innovation and services to our customers”.

XGS-PON Fiber Technology

XGS-PON is a fiber-optic broadband technology that offers symmetric upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps, making it ideal for use cases where high upstream speeds are necessary. It stands for 10 Gigabit Symmetrical Passive Optical Network. The technology is the latest iteration of PON and is part of the Gigabit-capable PON (G-PON) family of standards. It was developed to meet the growing bandwidth demands of emerging technologies like streaming, high definition, and 5G. XGS-PON does not require active elements like optical amplifiers, and it offers faster speeds and increased capacity than its predecessor, GPON. While GPON technology has a maximum download speed of 2.4 Gbps and an upload speed of 1.2 Gbps, XGS-PON can provide symmetric upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

Vianet 2Gbps XGS-Extreme Package

Vianet 2Gbps extreme XGS PON Internet

Vianet Communication has chosen XGS-PON technology to provide Nepal’s first 2 Gbps internet service. So, we get Vianet 2Gbps XGS-Extreme Package. This enables customers to experience lightning-fast download and upload speeds, seamless streaming, and superior gaming performance. This also positions the company to be future-ready for applications such as virtual reality, high-resolution video streaming, simultaneous streaming from multiple devices, and cloud computing.

Availability & Plans to Expand

The XGS-Extreme line of products based on XGS fiber technology is currently limited to specific areas of the Kathmandu Valley. Nonetheless, Vianet Communication has made a firm commitment to expanding its coverage throughout the region in the near future. This dedication to extending coverage underscores the company’s mission to provide advanced technology and high-speed internet services to more people in Nepal.

Commitment to Innovation & Superior Services

Vianet Communication’s dedication to offering cutting-edge technology and exceptional services to Nepal has been consistent. The introduction of Nepal’s first multi-gig internet connection based on XGS fiber technology is just one of the pioneering innovations that Vianet has brought to the country. In 2011, Vianet revolutionized the internet landscape of Nepal by introducing Fiber-to-the-home technology for the first time. Additionally, in 2016, the company launched the country’s first IPTV service, which forever transformed the TV viewing experience for Nepalese. With a continued commitment to investing in advanced technology and infrastructure, Vianet Communication is poised to provide unparalleled services to its customers in the future.

Benefits & Cons

Vianet Communication’s XGS-Extreme package, which is based on XGS-PON technology, offers several benefits to its customers. Firstly, the technology provides symmetric upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps, making it possible to download and upload large files quickly. Secondly, gamers can enjoy a superior gaming experience with no lag or latency issues. Thirdly, customers can enjoy high-quality video streaming with no buffering or pixelation issues. Moreover, the XGS-PON technology is future-ready for various applications, such as virtual reality, high-resolution video streaming, simultaneous streaming from multiple devices, and cloud computing. These benefits make XGS-PON technology a game-changer for high-speed internet connectivity in Nepal, allowing customers to enjoy a seamless and efficient internet experience.

While XGS-PON is an impressive technology that offers high-speed internet, it does come with a higher price tag compared to traditional GPON technology. This means that users who require high-speed internet may need to pay more for it.
