Government has planned to launch the Nagarik Adhikar (Citizen) mobile app for all of their services. Although the mobile app has been heard for a long time, it seems the app is ready for launch now. They are known to integrate all of the government services using the e-governance platform of Government of Nepal.
As per Asgar Ali, the IT advisor to Prime Minister, the Nagarik adhikar/Citizen app will launch in a matter of 2 to 3 months. He revealed more information about the app in the AI expo held in Kathmandu on August 25, 2019.
The app will provide all the government services so that people need not visit the Government offices to get those services. Suppose, you want to apply for a vehicle license, then you do not need to visit the license office. You can apply for it from your home. All you need to enter is your identification for which they are going to use the mobile number. Recently NTA has also appealed people to use SIM cards registered on their self.
Here is what Mr. Asgar Ali writes, “We are working in a very simple but ambitious mobile app ‘नागरिक अधिकार एप्स ‘ to give fully online services for all government services so that no one will need to visit government for most of services”. He also requests to register your mobile under own name if not registered yet. Because it will be the fundamental base to use the app.
Currently, the Nepal government has several system and solutions for each of the services. Each system does not recognize another system. They also have several mobile apps like Passport app, Supreme court of Nepal, Nepal Rajpatra app. Now, they are going to integrate all of those services from one window using Nagarikta ID or Mobile number. If we enter our Nagarikta number or mobile number, they will gather all the information needed, which makes very easy for the registration or service request.
Those services which do not need people to reach the Government offices will come under the scope of the app. But for the first phase, we expect a few services (2 to 3 in number) to come under the app. After which, they will integrate other services gradually.
The Nagarik Adhikar aka Citizen right app is already available to download in play store. The apps looks like an early version of the upcoming app. Or they might revamp the app to a new fresh design and look. The mobile app has all of the government information and delivers government services. GON citizen app. This app has been launched with the vision of e-governance implementation in Nepal, which can be also seen as the digital face of Government of Nepal.
The app will link people to the respective department or service delivery agency.
Here are some of the services with Nagarik Adhikar app as known so far.
They can also complain about several issues or people concern using the app. So, “Hello Sarkar” will also integrate with the app.
We believe this app is one step ahead for Good service and good governance. Hope the Nagarik Adhikar app will ease the government service delivery and make people’s lives better. This also begets transparency, efficiency, and accountability. We believe that the use of digital technology can only realize our dream of prosperity.
