Dish Home Fiber Internet

Nepal’s second largest ISP Dish Home provides various Fiber Internet (DH Fibernet) packages for both home users to businesses. You can choose subscriptions from 1 month to 24 months as suited to your budget and convenience. In this post, you will find all the packages with their price along with other services the private ISP provides. Keep reading for depth information about the company’s services.

Dish Home was launched in 2009 being Nepal’s first Direct-to-Home (DTH) Service Provider. Later the company faced tough competition in urban areas but managed to sustain itself as it had gained wide coverage in rural areas where cable TV had not reached. But the company turned its focus to fiber broadband and began the Fibernet service in 2020. While the service started with Kathmandu Valley at the beginning, the company has already expanded its Fibernet service across all major cities across the country through Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology.

Likewise, Dish Home has also entered the price war and launched premium fiber internet plans. This elevates the company’s status as among the major ISPs already leapfrogging many ISPs already in 4 years of expansion. As a matter of fact, the company has become the second-largest ISP in Nepal in terms of customers after surpassing 3.5 lakh customers across Nepal. Now, let’s find details of Dish Home Fiber Internet packages.

Dish Home investment in FTTH/VSAT technology

Dish Home has invested Rs 30 Crores in fiber and VSAT projects because all these technologies don’t come cheap. In urban areas, Fiber-optic cables can do the work because cities are overwhelmed with everything it needs. But what about rural areas where there is less population, no poles, and less development? Covering rural areas with Fiber-optic cables will take ages and the difficult terrain in a country like ours puts a lot of burdens. So, the solution will be using satellites for higher reachability.

The company will be the first ISP to provide internet through VSAT technology in Nepal if they pull this off. VSAT stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal, a satellite-based communication system. In this system, the user will send and receive signal information from a satellite. It is more expensive than Cable TV but reaches places with no cables whatsoever.

Nepal doesn’t have a satellite of its own for this purpose, except for the Nanosatellite called NepaliSat-1. So, Dish Home is using a satellite from an Israeli Satellite Company named ‘Spacecom’. ‘Amos’ satellite is used for transmitting the TV channel and the company is planning to use the “Amos-4” satellite for the internet.

Internet option for rural areas

With VSAT technology, Dish Home will be providing internet to all the rural areas where no other internet option is viable. So, it seems that the company was targeting rural areas from the start. However, to attract the local people in rural areas, they will have to make their internet package cheaper. Or else their internet will be only used in governmental offices or in company branches.

For such remote areas, only wireless/cellular broadband was considered to be feasible. We suggest you check out: Ncell Wirefree Plus WiFi Internet service and Nepal Telecom’s 4G router-based Namaste Wifi Service.

We hope the company does fulfill the needs of communication and accessibility of people living in rural areas. If they could realize their plan, it would be a better situation for our country, for the businesses, for the people, and for the development.

Dish Home Enterprise service

Dish Home offers Nepal some of the best communication services for enterprise-level customers. The DTH/ISP says that its business plans are suited for businesses that engage in video conferencing, high-res video consumption, virtual conferences, etc.

Enterprise customers get dedicated bandwidth, intranet, dedicated line, and static IP address, among other benefits with its high-performance enterprise internet packages. More highlights below:

Dedicated internet

The best part of an enterprise solution from Dish Home is the “Dedicated Internet Access’ or DIA. With it, subscribers get consistent internet speed and won’t have to bear with FUP or slow connection. Businesses that involve an eCommerce platform, video conferencing, 4K video streaming, and cloud computing storage can avail of Dish Home’s enterprise deal for dedicated internet bandwidth.

In addition, the ISP ensures 99.99% minimum latency which elevates online connectivity for clients thanks to the latest generation infrastructure Dish Home implements in its network. It ensures 24×7 seamless connection enough to fulfill any connectivity demand for the customers. As for customer service, the company says it provides assistance to the customers with “experts who design compatible and suitable packages.”

Intranet

Businesses today are decentralized and people are working from home and office with various tools. So, to connect all into one network, Dish Home provides a next-gen intranet service called Interactive Intranet, which is nothing like a traditional solution.

It uses contemporary communication, collaboration, and social networking technology.

Campus Wi-Fi

Campus Wi-Fi is another flagship enterprise service from Dish Home. The innovative internet solution lets members connect with its Portals, applications, and Internet anywhere within its premises. Dish Home’s Campus WiFi comes with an Intelligent Cloud Solution centered on user experience.

The ISP uses Access Points (APs) with WIFi 6 standards to meet high bandwidth requirements and can handle over 1K users simultaneously.

International Private Lease Circuit (IPLC)

IPLC allows businesses a Point-to-point private line to establish communication with their branch offices around the world. Enterprises can maximize their data through dedicated connectivity between different locations.

Regional offices and premises that require connectivity can leverage Dish Home’s IPLC service

Dish Home is the first ISP to offer the IPLC service via Optical Transport Network (OTN) which is One HOP architecture, offering low latency, high security, and hard pipe.

Dish Home IPLC offers

  • Maximum uptime and Data Protection
  • Speed up to 10 Gbps
  • High-quality, secure, and reliable Point to Point connectivity
  • Guaranteed data delivery and committed bandwidth at all time
  • Variety of Transmission speeds
  • Quality service through Service Level Agreement

Virtual Private Server (VPS)

This solution provides enterprises with a virtual platform to host their businesses. VPS solution provides an option for SaaS providers, game makers, programmers, and companies. It allows added flexibility and easier scalability to grow the business and comes at an affordable cost.

Data Center

Businesses can use Dish Home FiberNet’s data center service to host assets. To be located in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur the center will serve all the domestic and corporate clients in Nepal and abroad. The service includes dedicated, co-locative, and cloud services.

Dish Home data center

Dish Home Fiber Internet Availability

Dish Home has expanded its fiber internet services across Nepal at a very fast pace. Currently, its broadband and TV services are available across all major cities across Nepal but are also likely to be found in many urban areas too.

You can also check out the list of places where Dish Home Fiber Internet is available on the Dish Home Offical Maps Webpage. Nonetheless, Dish Home is working on extending the availability of Fiber Internet service in both rural as well as urban areas of Nepal.

Dish Home Fair Usage Policy (FUP)

Dish Home doesn’t provide exact details regarding how it implements its Fair Usage Policy (FUP). However, like any other ISPs, it has a daily threshold limit and once users start exceeding that limit, the throttling begins.

We suggest that you don’t abuse the internet. To illustrate, you should refrain from downloading or uploading 100s of GBs of files on consecutive days to avoid bandwidth throttling. You also need to take into account how many are using your network and how much bandwidth they have consumed to get a better overview of your internet usage.
