Nepal’s popular media group, Himalaya Television Network, will broadcast the FIFA Football World Cup 2026 in Nepal. For this, Himalaya Sports and DGo (Dish Home Go) App have reached a partnership agreement.

The FIFA Men’s Football World Cup 2026 is being held in the US, Mexico, and Canada. Like the rest of the world, Nepal’s passionate football fans are eagerly waiting for the tournament, which begins June 11, 2026, and concludes on July 19.

This edition, the competition features an extended 48 nations from 32 in 2022. Argentina will take to the field to defend the title.

SPro Media has the broadcasting rights to air the FIFA Football World Cup 2026. Himalaya Television will broadcast the matches through this company. The company also launched its new TV channel, Himalaya Sports, for the upcoming sporting fair.

It’s certain that the WC matches will air on this and other channels from the network when more than one match takes place. It’s also possible that the network might broadcast the matches in both English and Nepali.

Dharmaraj Bhusal, Chairman of Himalaya Television Network, expressed his belief that this move (to air WC 2026 matches) will pave a new path for the future of Nepali sports. “We are proud to have acquired the rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2026,” he said during the formal announcement. Likewise, Suraj Giri, CEO of Himalaya Sports, hailed it as a historic leap in Nepali sports.

So, it’s a confirmation that Himalaya Sports is so far the official broadcasting medium for the upcoming Football World Cup. Possibly, we will have OTTs like Dish Home Go, MSM Video, STYX Nepal, and other TV channels announcing their partnership to air the matches. One thing is for sure, unlike a few years back, Nepali viewers won’t have to rely on foreign TV channels to watch Football’s greatest tournament from Nepal.
