Nepal Telecom has reported its revenue and profit to have increased in FY 2082/83. In a report published today (company’s unaudited financial statement), Ntc shows remarkable increase in its revenue by 1.06 billion NPR and in its Net profit by 2.86 billion NPR.
Ntc revenue increases in FY 2082/83
In its report, the company has posted a total operating revenue of Rs 34 arba, 95 crore, and 4 lakh. The figure is an increase of Rs 1 arba, 5 crore and 59 lakh or 3.12% compared. That’s because the company generated Rs 33 arba, 89 crore, and 45 lakh in the 4th quarter of FY 2081/82.

Ntc total Revenue increases in FY 2082/83
Likewise, the company drew Rs 39 arba, 19 crore, and 96 lakh in total revenue in Q4, FY 2082/83. It was an increase of Rs 1 arba, 01 crore, and 15 lak or 2.65%. In the same period of FY 2081/82, the company posted a total revenue of Rs 39 arba, 18 crore, and 81 lakh.

Ntc net profit increases in FY 2082/83
Nepal Telecom says that by the end of Q4 of FY 2082/83, the company’s net profit stood at Rs 8 arba, 86 crore, 46 lakh. This is an increase of Rs 2 arba, 85 crore, and 79 lakh or 47.58%. The company’s net profit in Q4 of FY 2081/82 was Rs 6 arba 67 lakh.

According to the company, its per-share annualized earning is Rs 49.25.
Ntc EBITDA and pre-tax revenues increase in FY 2082/83
Similarly, by the fourth quarter of FY 2082/83, Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) stood at Rs 20 arba, 48 crore, 1 lakh. This was Rs 1 arba, 98 crore, 41 lakh (10.73%) higher than the pre-tax profit of Rs 18 arba, 49 crore, 60 lakh recorded during the same period of FY 2081/82.
By FY 2082/83, the company’s pre-tax profit stood at Rs 13 arba, 26 crore, 47 lakh. This was Rs 3 arba, 41 crore, 45 lakh (34.66%) higher than the pre-tax profit of Rs 9 arba, 85 crore, 2 lakh recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Reasons for Ntc revenue and profit change in fourth quarter (Q4) FY 2082/83
Nepal Telecom (NTC) has given the following reasons for the change in its revenue and profit in the fourth quarter Q4 FY 2082/83:
- Due to the gradual decline in interest rates, interest income decreased by around Rs 86 crore, 19 lakh (22.88%) compared to the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year.
- The increase in revenue was driven by higher GSM revenue, which increased by Rs 64 crore, 54 lakh (2.28%) compared to the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year.
- As the nation’s communications provider, the company continues to expand services and improve service quality even in remote and difficult-to-reach areas, where operating costs are higher and returns are relatively low.
- The company also added 855 GSM sites in FY 2082/83 alone while it operates NT Fiber FTTH across 77 districts. NTC 4G coverage has also reached 750 out of 753 local levels so far. Their repair and maintenance also means Ntc has to allocate a handsome amount to keep them running.
It’s the second successive quarter that the company has posted positive financial results. The details contrasts with other recent reports when the company suffered continuous decline in its revenues and profits. The challenge is to keep the momentum going for the country’s state-backed telecom giant.
