Nepal has slipped to 94th position in the global list of fixed broadband speed. The country fell by 2 ranks to its current rank in Ookla’s November 2025 index.
If you are unaware, fixed broadband refers to a high-speed connection run through physical wires such as fiber. These are the internet connections used in homes, offices, and organizations. Mostly, the phrase refers to fiber internet connections as they remain the most popular these days.

Nepal rank in global fixed broadband speed
Ookla shows Nepal perched at 94th position for fixed broadband speed with 79 Mbps download and 63.73 Mbps upload speed. The latency measured 6 ms. Nepal’s position on the list went down from 92nd in October.

The fluctuation is obvious and natural, but it’s still highly progressive compared to how things were before the 3-digit internet speed became the norm. Remember the sensational CG Net’s120 Mbps package in 2021? The ISP started the whole internet speed war in Nepal.
But Nepal is not in the global mobile broadband index, as Ookla has changed its policies for listing countries in its reports.

According to Ookla, Singapore sits at the top with 407.05 Mbps download speed in fixed broadband technology. Chile ranks second with 357.25 Mbps, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and France follow at third and fourth with 356.24 Mbps and 346.04 Mbps download speed, respectively. Hong Kong is at fifth with 345.33 Mbps download speed. Interestingly, you can notice the dominance of non-Western regions in the top five.

In mobile broadband, the UAE tops the list with 672.68 Mbps download speed. Qatar trails in second with 542.56 Mbps download speed. Likewise, Kuwait and Bulgaria follow at third and fourth with 398.66 Mbps and 267.37 Mbps. At fifth, we have Bahrain with the average download speed of 256.81 Mbps.
