NTA is inviting missing local level entities to sign the MoE for its RTDF broadband project. The telecom authority launched this project to improve and expand the high-speed broadband connection in 8 districts that were severely ravaged by the earthquake of 2072.
However, this is a nationwide project and spans around the local-level bodies all over Nepal.
Through the notice, the telecom authority is requesting the local bodies to contact its office in one month’s time.
NTA’s primary target districts for this project are Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhpalchowk, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, and Okhaldhunga.
Besides them and Kathmandu, NTA aims to establish internet in Basic level community schools across all the local levels in the country.

NTA Inviting Remaining Schools for Agreement
So far, 71 out of 76 in the 8 target districts have joined the project. Likewise, 267 out of 656 local levels in 66 districts, besides Kathmandu valley, have joined signed the agreement papers.
NTA has requested the interested parties to contact its office within one month from the day of the notice release (Dec. 23).
NTA’s notice reads that it will consider the new applicants for its broadband project as the final list and begin the project in respective areas.

NTA Connecting Rural entities by High-Speed Broadband
Utilizing Rural Telecommunications Development Funds, NTA aims to connect local administrations, ward offices, secondary level community schools, and public health centers by high-speed broadband.
If the concerned offices are on dated ADSL, NTA will replace it with 20 Mbps fiber broadband. For new installation, it will directly install the FTTH service. NTA’s broadband project is offering 2 years of free internet service for those offices. Further, it will bear all the costs of fiber, equipment, and other expenses.
