Samsung, the world’s most prominent smartphone brand says that it is ready to bring 5G technology to Nepal. The company says that it has an array of 5G devices to be launched once Nepali service providers launch the 5G network to the public.
The South Korean firm has been marked for bringing the most advanced smartphone lineups to the world and it is no exception in Nepal. It has earned a reputation for being at the forefront of introducing advanced tech and innovation in its devices. It is safe to say that Samsung smartphones are the default choice for many in Nepal.
Its signature uniqueness manifests in foldable smartphone technology and constant exploration of smartphones’ capabilities. Additionally, the elite phone maker has brought phones with next-gen 5G compatibility and is actively bringing the world closer via their connected ecosystem. Samsung has consistently brought its A-game into the Nepali market and is a household brand name in the country. The 5G device rollout is right around the corner now.
Nepal’s two telecom companies Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell use different bands and frequencies across Nepal. All the common bands in Nepal are supported by Samsung devices. This includes Band 8 (900 MHz) for 2G, Band 1 (2100 MHz) for 3G, and Band 3 (1800 MHz) for 4G by the major telecom operators in Nepal.
The state-backed company Ntc introduced an additional common band during its VoLTE expansion – Band 20 (800 MHz). Samsung tested and implemented the band becoming the first in Nepal to provide the band 20 support. The company has been providing band 20 support on its smartphones since 2020 AD.
Band 20 is an important band for 4G LTE/VoLTE technology. It delivers a great mixture of coverage and performance. So, it is advisable that you check if your phone brand supports band 20 or not.

Bands/frequencies supported by Samsung
Samsung supports all the common bands and frequencies utilized by both Ntc and Ncell in Nepal. Check out the list of telecom operators and their operational airwaves.

Currently, both operators provide 4G cellular broadband on their network and are intent on launching 5G. Ntc is testing 5G at its offices and is waiting for more compatible devices to launch the network to the public. Ncell has also expressed its willingness to start the 5G project stating that it’s ready for the next-gen mobile technology. In sum, both are working on the 5G launch and its commercialization which will bring substantially faster internet speed on 5 G-ready devices.
And Samsung is ready to be part of the 5G revolution in Nepal. Likewise, it is cooperating with both Ntc and Ncell to bring the fifth-gen network to the country. The company has been launching 5 G-ready smartphones at various price ranges since 2021. Recently, the smartphone OEM launched its most affordable 5G smartphone Galaxy M14 5G. The affordable 5G phones and commercial launch of the network will help widen 5G access and promote digital inclusion.
Samsung has a full-fledged line up of 5G-ready devices to be launched
Samsung says that it is ready with a long line-up of 5G-ready devices for launch and is waiting for operators to launch a 5G network for these devices to be able to activate. Generally, smartphone makers lock 5G support on devices until it become available in a country or region of concern. This works in favor of the device itself keeping its battery at its optimum health to avoid frequent network loss. The same happened when 4G was not available in Nepal but devices started coming in with the support for it. A software patch helped unlock the feature when telcos launched the network for general users.
